Two Running Start Info Sessions on April 6
If you are interested in signing up for Running Start next year, it is important that you attend one of the Running Start Info Sessions on Wednesday, April 6:

  • In-person for students at lunch in SW205
  • Virtual Teams Session for students/families at 7 p.m. | Link coming!

Running Start is a dual-credit academic program for 11th-12th grade students. Students receive both high school and college credit for these classes. [MORE INFO]

AP Exam Important Instructions
Students who pre-registered in November for AP Exams or who are not sure they registered can confirm their exams by signing into the myap.collegeboard.org to confirm their AP Exam Registration status.

Students cannot arrive late: Students arriving after the start of the exam will forfeit their exam. No refunds or make-up exams will be offered.

Students cannot be dismissed early: Morning exams should end between 12-12:30 p.m. and students are expected to attend their afternoon classes. Afternoon exams should end between 4-4:30pm and students are expected to attend their morning classes.

The music and language exams will run longer due to the recording piece so plan accordingly.

Seattle School Board is accepting applications for three 2022-23 student school board members. The student school board members will provide guidance to the board. Current 10th-11th grade Seattle Public Schools students are eligible to apply.

Beauty and the Beast Closes Run Sunday
Congratulations to the Ballard Playmaker cast for its staging of the Disney favorite, Beauty and the Beast. The play, featuring 36 BHS students, is directed by Shawn M. Riley.

The musical continues with a final 2 p.m. March 27 matinee at the Performing Arts Center. The final show will also be livestreamed on the BPA YouTube page, donations welcome.

Midsummer Night's Dream Auditions March 30
Auditions for the Spring Play, A Midsummer Night's Dream are 3:45 p.m. March 30 in the PAC. Pick up an audition packet in the BLACK BOX (NE224) before auditions. Auditions will include preparing a memorized monologue from the several supplied in the packet!

Spring Sports Double Header at Home
Let's go Beavers! Friday night the Beaver Brigade was out in force to cheer a home boys soccer match (0-0 defensive gem against Eastside Catholic) and, later, a girls lacrosse 15-9 win over Garfield.

Spring Break
Spring Break is only a few weeks away, from April 11-15!

Visitors
One-time/one-day visitors and one-time volunteers are allowed in buildings during the school day with the following requirements.

Visitors must show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 72 hours. Home tests will be accepted. Same-day rapid antigen tests are highly recommended.

Parking
Students cannot park in the Staff Parking Lot off of NW 67th St by the tennis courts.
Students must park on the street. In addition, the front Parking Lot off NW 65th St is for Administration and Visitors (three-hour limit) only.

Masking/Vaccination
While masking is now optionalmasks must be worn in the BHS Nurse Office and the Ballard Teen Health Center. The district welcomes and encourages staff and students to continue mask wearing through the end of the year if that is their preference.

With the mask mandate being lifted it is even more important now to get your vaccine booster! The Ballard Teen Health Center (BTHC) now has the COVID Pfizer Vaccine available. [BHS HEALTH & SAFETY RESOURCES]

Spring PTSA Meetings
The BHS community is welcome to attend PTSA Board and General meetings, which will remain online until further notice.

Our remaining Board Meetings are 7 p.m. April 7 and May 5; and 5:30 p.m. June 9. Note: Only current PTSA members can vote.

Our final General Meeting of the year is 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9 and will include our Educator and Volunteer of the Year Awards celebration.

At 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31 the SCPTSA is hosting a listening session, in partnership with National PTA Office of Family Engagement, to update the National Family Engagement Standards. All are welcome.

Any PTA member is encouraged to submit an issue, resolution, or legislative principle that addresses concerns that affect children on a state-wide level to the WSPTA.

Legislative Session Debrief
Join the WSPTA at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26 to hear from their Legislative Consultant Marie Sullivan, as she recaps the 2022 legislative session, focusing on the WSPTA's impact on legislation. She will also provide a look at bills that didn’t pass that might make good positions for the Fall Legislative Assembly. There will also be time questions and answers.

Ballard Link Extension Comments Sought
Sound Transit has published station designs for the Ballard Link Extension project to help capture ideas on how riders will access the stations and how the stations might fit into the surrounding neighborhoods.

Community input is needed on the project's Draft Environmental Impact Statement as well as route and station options.

KUOW Intro to Radio Journalism
In KUOW RadioActive Youth Media's fun and hands-on summer Intro to Radio Journalism Workshop, teens learn radio journalism and storytelling skills, build confidence, and work with others while creating a true radio story about one person.
The Intro Workshop will be a shortened version of the standard full-length intensive workshop, due to limited staff capacity. Applications due April 12.

Penguin Spring Show Auditions | The Sasquatch Society
Announcing Auditions for Penguin Production's Spring Show: The Sasquatch Society
by Seattle teen playwright Hersh Powers.

The Sasquatch Society is a secret middle school club dedicated to discovering urban legends in the Seattle area. But the society is so secretive that only two people know about it! 

For this 2-person show, Penguin is trying something new -- auditions! Young artists, ages 14-19, of all gender identities are invited to participate.

The Sasquatch Society rehearses April/May, and performs at
the NW Folklife Festival at 12:30 p.m. May 28 at the Seattle Center.
