CHICAGO BLACKHAWK ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
|
The Chicago Blackhawk Alumni Association (CBAA) distributes college scholarships annually to the three most deserving high school hockey players. Awards are determined from a candidate's level of community service, volunteerism, good citizenship, academic performance as well as the hockey talent of the individual. Recipients will receive an annual $7,500.00 scholarship over four years for a total of $30,000.
December 1st of each year, scholarship applications are available for download on the Blackhawk Alumni website. Fully completed applications including letter of recommendations, original transcripts, and scholar essays are due no later than February 1st of each year. Once all of the forms are gathered, a selection committee from the Blackhawk Alumni Association (CBAA) will review all of the candidates and then select the three recipients.
We encourage all of the senior high school players to take the time to submit their applications. We also encourage all of the coaches, managers and team/league presidents to promote and support this effort.

15 Things Coaches Love to See in a Player

When Rob Klein is putting in time as the assistant coach for the Lake Forest Academy boys' hockey team, he likes to address the guys in the preseason about what he'd like to see from them throughout the season.

Disabled Hockey Discipline Announces USA Hockey's National Special Needs Hockey Team
During the
USA Hockey Special Hockey Classic at the Ice Vault Arena in Wayne, New Jersey, the U.S. National Special Hockey team was announced. Six players from the Chicago Blackhawks Special Hockey (CBSH) team were included on the 2019-2020 U.S. National Team roster.
The following CBSH team members will join Team USA and compete in the inaugural International Disabled Hockey World Cup scheduled for May 2020: Jared Muka, Steven Schamberg, Nikolai Krumrey, Joey Hodge, Eric Vlasic and Ryan Mueller.
In addition to the CBSH players that were announced last week, CBSH Head Coach
Steve Drews
was included in the excitement and will join the team on the bench as the assistant coach to the National team.

Chicago Blackhawks Special Hockey Team Road Trips East to the USA Hockey Special Hockey Classic
The
Chicago Blackhawks Special Hockey
(CBSH) team packed up their cars and made a long road trip east to Wayne, New Jersey to compete in the USA Hockey Special Hockey Classic, hosted by the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association. Eighteen players and many coaches and volunteers participated in the 12-team event where games were played at the Ice Vault Arena November 8-10, 2019. READ MORE>>

Team USA Brings Home a Silver Medal in International Blind Hockey Competition
The USA National Blind Hockey Team traveled to Ottawa, Canada, the weekend of November 8th as part of the Canadian Blind Hockey Eastern Regional Tournament. Games were played at the TD Place Arena which is the home to the Ottawa 67's of the OHL.
Anthony Chesrow and Luke Miller, both from the

, represented Team USA and brought home a Silver Medal from the event. Chesrow, a resident of Carol Stream, scored three goals for Team USA. We are extremely proud of our two athletes that not only represented our hometown of Chicago, but represented our country...the USA!

team, led by team manager, Stephanie Sim, was recently very busy as they prepared for yet another successful Try Hockey For Free event. The Try Hockey For Free clinic was held as part of Come Play Hockey Month on Saturday, November 9 at Center Ice of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Ill.

By Ross Forman - The day before Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the Illinois High School Hockey season. Always is, probably always will be.
That Wednesday night is when the season really gets rolling.
Sure, teams have been skating for about three months, with games for about two months, but late-November is traditionally when the season really kicks in.

Homewood Flossmoor Looks to Skate among the Elite in Hayes-Suburban Division
By Ross Forman - Junior forward Nick Sline, the top goal-scorer last season in the Hayes-Suburban Division, is once again an offensive force for Homewood Flossmoor. He's leading HF with 14 goals and 11 assists in 10 league games, as the team carries a 6-4 record.
Sline tallied his first hat trick of the season Oct. 25, in a 10-1 win over Plainfield, along with 1 assist in that victory. Sline and teammate Eric Gerecke (10 goals, 4 assists) each had 2 goals, 1 assist in the team's 6-2 rematch win over Plainfield on Nov. 15. READ MORE>>

Nearly 300 Illinois Men & Women Are on NCAA DI & DIII Rosters for 2019-2020 Season
It's a testament to our Illinois players, coaches, and associations that so many of our young men and women from Illinois were able to realize their dream of playing NCAA Division I and NCAA Division III College Hockey. USA Hockey has announced the 21 players named to the U.S. Junior Select Team that will participate in the
2019 World Junior A Challenge from Dec. 7-15 in Dawson Creek, B.C. The roster includes Illinois' Luke Reid (Geneva) and Josh Lopina (Minooka).
All skaters on the 21-player roster (which includes 12 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders) currently play in the
United States Hockey League
