The No Surprises Act and Transparency in Coverage Rules
In connection with the No Surprises Act (NSA) and Transparency in Coverage (TiC) Rules:

  • You are protected against surprise bills when receiving out-of-network emergency services, out-of-network nonemergency services at an in-network facility, or air ambulance services. Refer to our notice.

  • HMAA’s ID cards include deductible and out-of-pocket maximum information, viewable using a QR code, to help members better understand their costs in advance.

  • We negotiate with and pay non-par providers directly for applicable claims.

We continue to monitor these mandates as the final rules are subject to change. Please consult with your legal or other advisor as needed.
Use HiDoc® for Physical and Mental Health Issues
HMAA provides members with access to a local network of physicians and therapists online or by phone, day or night though our telemedicine service, HiDoc®. There is no out-of-pocket cost or consultation limit, and you can usually speak with a health professional within 30 minutes.
