Mack Memo ~ Parent Newsletter

Ms. Colleen Weimer, Kindergarten Teacher

This week we are highlighting our sweet Kindergarten class. Our days are busy and filled with joy from our 23 little ones.
"Kindergarten has had such a beautiful start of the school year! We are so thankful to Jesus for His love, grace, and mercy each school day. God is so good all the time!

Our Kindergarten class has already made many precious memories that will be in our hearts forever. Our kindergarteners have formed wonderful friendships, encouraged one another to always do their best, and have excelled in learning COVID-style!"
Here are just a few highlights:

In September, we learned about the parts of an apple and made applesauce. We also visited our Mack pumpkin patch and picked out 8 bright, orange pumpkins! Every day we are amazed and in awe of God’s incredible world as His Creation Enjoyers.
In October, we studied the life cycle of a pumpkin and created Book Character Pumpkins. We enjoyed B.E.A.R. Week so much and loved reading together, creating forts, and holding our annual Teddy Bear Picnic. We are love finding order whether in the pumpkin patch or the alphabet as God’s Order Discoverers!
Toward the end of October and start of November, we studied the election process and held three elections: Class Pet, Favorite Cookie, and Class President. These elections helped our students to understand the impact of their vote and discover more about their responsibilities as future voters! We contribute to God’s world as His Community Builders!

We are excited for the rest of the school year and all that God has planned for us! Our goal is to learn how to love God and love one another more and more each day.

~With hope in Christ, Miss Weimer
The season of gratitude is upon us and I am reminded of our U.S. veterans for their sacrifices and service to our country. All have fought for the freedoms we experience each and every day. The Air Force Outreach website said it well, "For as long as we have been the United States, we have had veterans. Our history is filled with their brave actions and quiet courage. Faced with different challenges, today's veterans are no different than those in our past. The theme of service before self in the Air Force - and in every service - is a constant one that binds our veterans together through the decades. Service before self is why we owe all of our veterans a debt of gratitude...yesterday, today and tomorrow."

On this Veterans Day, let us remember and honor all those who have served, for they are true heroes. Thank you, Veterans. In honor of military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, we will be holding a Veterans Day assembly on Tuesday, 11/10. Chapel will be moved to Thursday.

Preschool Highlights
With Thanksgiving approaching, the preschool classes have been talking about what they are thankful for, the idea that God blesses each of them every day, and what it means to have a grateful attitude. One class has discussed the difference between wants and needs and that even though food is a basic need, some people struggle to have enough healthy food to eat. The children are learning that they can do something to help solve this problem through this month’s service-learning project of collecting food for the Maltby Food Bank. Last week the children enjoyed dramatic play related to this project, as classroom areas became a food bank where the kids could pretend to work or shop with real canned and boxed food items.
As part of our Thanksgiving focus, the five-day PreK class had a lot of fun with potatoes last week, incorporating them into their artwork in very creative ways. Here are some pictures of the food banks in two of the classrooms and a couple of examples of potato art.
