TOU Summer Internship Program News
Temple of Understanding Builds Connections Around the Globe

On Saturday, March 5, the Director of our Temple of Understanding Summer Internship Program, Amy Pacula, had the pleasure of joining the Temple of Understanding India Foundation and the Manav Rachna International Institute of Research & Studies in India at their Virtual Symposium.

Amy felt honored to present with distinguished scholars from India as they presented their views to university students on the values and fundamental responsibilities and duties that are the basis of good citizenship.

In connection to this theme, Amy was excited to share both the incredible topics that TOU interns have presented on over the last few summers as well as their insights on communication, education, connections, respect, and advocacy, specifically actions that each person can take to make a difference in our world!
A Four-Week Intensive Internship for Students Ages 17-22
from June 23 - July 19, 2022

This program provides individuals with a hands-on learning experience of the work of the UN for four intensive weeks. Students often discover their passion for a career in foreign affairs and related fields. Students accepted into this program have the opportunity to meet with various UN organizations, Missions, and NGOs for discussions based on their specific questions and interests. Applicants are from countries across the world, and for the virtual program, must be 17 years old by June 20, 2022.

Student interns also choose a topic for research that they are passionate about and that connects with the work of the Temple of Understanding. They present what they learn through an oral presentation and written paper at the end of the program.

Throughout the program, student interns also have the opportunity to learn about different religions through visits to various interfaith sites, and they participate in volunteer work.

This internship is a commitment, and each day should be taken very seriously. Student interns are expected to be self-motivated, responsible, and dedicated in addition to being interested in the work of the UN as part of a future career. They are expected to be professional and respectful, to be on time each day, to be actively involved, to turn in assignments on time, and to put forth their best effort.

Application Deadline: April 1, 2022

"The TOU virtual summer program was a great opportunity to learn about international relations, global issues, and the way that different people have fared with the pandemic around the world. I had the chance to meet people from various nations, religions, and cultures as well as construct an investigation on an issue I was greatly interested in during my four weeks in the program. I would recommend this program to people from various backgrounds and believe it gives us all an opportunity to open our minds and become better global citizens."
