LHA BAB DUCHEN, the "Festival of the Descent from Heaven," occurs on the 22nd day of the 9th Tibetan month--this year, that falls on Saturday, November 7th. Previously, Buddha had ascended to the Heaven of Thirty-Three in order to give teachings to benefit the gods in the desire realms and to repay the kindness of his mother by liberating her from samsara. On this day, Buddha returned from heaven to earth.

This is one of four special festival days that occur each year. On each of these days, it is said that the effects of positive or negative actions are multiplied ten million times. Thus, it is traditional to engage in virtuous activities and prayers on these days. We hope you can join us!
