International Women's Day Greetings
March 8th is International Women's Day. Railroad Workers United would like to celebrate, recognize and commend all women railroad workers who — together with laborers on the rails — make the railroad work. Women have long been part of the railroad workforce: as operators, telegraphers, clerks, and other crafts for decades. During World War II, women workers kept the railroad maintenance shops running while the men went off to battle. In more history, women have entered the operating crafts working as brakemen, switchmen, conductors, and engineers. In whatever craft they have found employment, women workers on the railroad have thrived. They have contributed greatly to the cause of rail labor.

RWU offers our congratulations and solidarity to all of the women railroaders, and we encourage all rail workers to extend them the recognition, respect, courtesy, and solidarity that they deserve. And we encourage all women railroad workers to consider joining RWU

Happy International Women's Day!

From Amtrak News/People Pillar | February 2, 2022An all-female Train & Engine crew just made history in Nevada. Like the majority of the railroad industry, the Reno Crew Base has always been male-dominated. But this group is changing that: Engineer Marianne Wright-Channel, Conductor Shannon Lindberg and Assistant Conductor Whitney LaChew just completed the first all-female round trip, on Jan. 28 on the California Zephyr between Reno and Winnemucca, Nevada.
RWU stocks a
4-color, 2" diameter sticker for
all railroad workers.

It expresses an adage for all of us to live by.
