WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks acquired the exclusive pay TV broadcast rights to air Entertainment One’s (eOne) Cupcake & Dino: General Services in Australia and New Zealand. The series from Brazilian director Pedro Eboli streams on Netflix in the U.S. and other global territories. Jakks Pacific Takes Q1 Sales Hit as Margin, Supply Chain Improves

Faced with the challenges of doing business in the COVID-19 era, Jakks Pacific took a slight dip in sales during the first quarter. The company’s net sales declined 6% during the first quarter of 2020 at $66.6 million compared to $70.8 million last year. Despite the dip in sales, gross margin grew to 24.6% compared to 20.2% in the same period last year, while net loss attributable to common stockholders was $12.3 million compared to $29.2 million in the first quarter of 2019. Funko Takes a Hit in Q1, But Cautions Big Declines in Q2

The company saw an 18% decline in net sales for the first quarter of 2020 with $136.7 million compared to $167.1 million last year. The company pointed to a weaker content lineup, retail closures, and other challenges brought on by the global spread of COVID-19. Funko experienced supply chain disruptions and reduced shipments to retailers deemed “non-essential” in select markets, and social distancing guidelines and stay-at-home orders began taking effect in the last few weeks of the quarter. McCormick joins the company from Hasbro, where she spent nearly a decade in various positions. Spielwarenmesse eG is looking ahead with planned changes to its executive board. CEO Ernst Kick and Dr. Hans-Juergen Richter will depart the board when their terms end on June 30, 2021.
