Members of the Campus Community,
During Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s daily address, he shared news that Stark County, in which the University of Mount Union is located, has been elevated to a Level 3 (red) within the Ohio Public Health Advisory Alert System. The alert system is a color-coded system designed to supplement existing statewide orders through a data-driven framework to assess the degree of the virus’ spread and to engage and empower individuals, businesses, communities, local governments, and others in their response and actions.
In light of this recent announcement, we are reaching out to implore you to remain vigilant in your efforts to do your part to help prevent the spread of this illness. Please adhere to the institution’s four personal safety practices and the additional recommendations provided below regarding your interactions with individuals on and off campus. As a reminder, the four personal safety practices include:
- Conduct a daily health self-assessment
- Wear a face covering
- Maintain social distancing
- Maintain personal hygiene
As we continue to learn and live on campus, your unrelenting diligence will be paramount to our efforts to keep our community safe and well. Our ability to continue to offer the campus experience our students desire – in-person education, residential life, campus engagement, etc. – depends in large measure on our ability to meet these expectations and to hold ourselves and others accountable.

BEHAVIOR THAT PUTS OUR CAMPUS AT RISK
VISITING OR HOSTING VISITORS FROM OTHER CAMPUSES
Other campuses, just like our own, are doing all they can to keep their communities safe, and this includes minimizing interactions with large groups and individuals with whom we don't engage on a regular basis. Please don't visit other college or university campuses or host individuals from other campuses until it is once again safe to do so.
ATTENDING OR HOSTING LARGE GROUP GATHERINGS
Hosting and attending gatherings of more than 10 people – which violates both state and campus protocols – poses a significant risk to our entire campus community. This includes parties, informal gatherings, or events at off-campus houses. Those who do so will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct (students) or Office of Human Resources (faculty and staff) for disciplinary action.

COMING AND GOING FROM CAMPUS/HOME
When you must leave campus/home, please, for the safety of everyone, be responsible and wise. Wear an appropriate face covering and maintain six feet of social distance at all times. Follow appropriate personal hygiene measures by washing your hands thoroughly or utilizing hand sanitizer. And, if you aren't feeling well, stay home.
INTERACTING WITH OTHERS WHILE YOU'RE SICK
If you feel unwell or experience COVID-19 symptoms, you should not physically be in classrooms, offices, or public spaces on campus. Exercise caution and call the Student Health Center if you are a student at (330) 823-2692 or reach out to your primary healthcare provider if you are a faculty or staff member. Be responsible.
