"Sandra Jeknavorian: Hopes for the Past, Memories of the Future" will be on display in the Gallery from October 8- November 23. The show is comprised of a series of drawings done in pastels and charcoal on Stonehenge paper. These works are inspired by life and death and the dualism of the body and the soul. Learn more here.
The opening reception will be held on Friday, October 12 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Dear Colleagues,
September has already slipped by, and I hope everyone is once again settled into the rhythm of the semester.
The packed halls are to be celebrated! Through attention and perseverance, I'm happy to say that Three Rivers achieved a headcount of 4,000 this fall.
I want to thank the staff of the A-Wing and the members of the faculty who worked to get students to complete placement testing, advised students about courses, assisted them with their financial aid, and responded to their questions.
This coming year we need to make retention and graduation rates along with programs with low enrollments a focused priority.
May this semester be engaging and productive as we celebrate the beginning of another academic year!

Welcome Week Filled with Fun and New Students!
The first week of September was action-packed for students. They enjoyed an obstacle course, a dunk tank and kettle corn at the Welcome Week Kick-Off. On Wednesday, students grabbed ice cream in the c
afeteria while learning about Three Rivers Clubs at Get the Scoop. Everyone was treated to a free lunch on Thursday's Meet and Mingle BBQ where faculty, staff and students got a chance to know each other.

Fresh Check Day was the
Busiest
Yet!
Over 300 students participated in Fresh Check Day on September 19. The festive fall fair combined free food, games and hands-on activities with learning about mental health resources. Students were treated to lunch, played games, and learned about mental health at interactive booths hosted by different student clubs.

Nursing Accreditation Visit Complete
Congratulations to Director of Nursing and Allied Health Edie Ouellet as well as the entire nursing department on completing the nursing re-accreditation visit. The process will continue through the Spring of 2019.

Fond Farewells for Jerry Ice
Jerry's many friends gathered to celebrate the positive influence he has made at Three Rivers over the past two and a half years. In addition to heartfelt remarks by President Jukoski, Nicola Ricker, and others, the group watched a
video of well-wishes. Guests enjoyed a beautiful cake with a picture of Jerry's beloved boat, and the celebration closed with a sing-along of "I'm so glad we've had this time together."

Faculty and staff gathered on September 21 for Professional Development Day, which included a review of the Master Plan by Keith Epstein

. He was followed by a presentation on Connecting Academics and Careers in Connecticut by representatives from the Conn. Department of Labor. Three Rivers Adviser Celeste Warner then provided an overview of career services.

Meet Kevin Kelly
,
our new Registrar
Kevin
comes to Three Rivers with 19 years of experience. Most recently he served as the Registrar at the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford. Prior to this, he was the Registrar at Mitchell College where he also served as the Director of the Advising Center and Vice President for Student Affairs.
He brings to the College seasoned experience and solid expertise in working with a diverse population of students whether that be adult learners, first generation students, or underrepresented students. Welcome, Kevin!

Update on the Search for an Academic Dean
We are pleased to announce that Robert Farinelli accepted the position and he will begin here at Three Rivers on November 30th.
The search for a new Academic Dean began this spring. A search committee of faculty and staff reviewed 52 applications, and submitted a short list to Dean Ice. In mid-August, Dean Ice, Louise Summa, and President Jukoski conducted telephone interviews with those candidates recommended by the Search Committee. After further discussions and winnowing of candidates, three very strong candidates came to meet and interview on September 14 here at the College.
The candidates' resumes were shared with the entire community. All constituencies (faculty, students, staff) of TRCC had an opportunity to attend the interviews and make recommendations via
online evaluations. Thank you for your assistance and attention.

News from Three Rivers College Foundation

The Foundation Board of Directors welcomed three new members at their September 2018 meeting.

- Ms. Dina Lopes, Vice President, People's United Bank
The board enjoyed a visit to the Pop Up Makerspace seeing first-hand how Foundation dollars are used! Thank you to Sheila Skahan, Mike Gentry and Sean Langlais for the presentation. Funding for the Makers Space was provided by the Three Rivers College Foundation.
The fairways at Fox Hopyard Golf Club were bustling on August 17th! With the help of sponsors, volunteers and golfers, the event raised more than $43,000.
These Foundation funds will have an immediate impact on our students, many of whom are employees, family, friends and neighbors.
