Village Limits Video Gaming Licenses
The Village Board recently approved a resolution that will limit the number of Class V (video gaming) liquor licenses issued to a maximum of eight.  Currently, there are seven businesses that have been issued a Class V liquor license - five in Historic Downtown Long Grove, including Broken Earth Winery, Chatterbox, Chit Chat Room, Joanie's Pizzeria, and The Village Tavern, and two at other venues in the Village including Pub 83 and Irons & Woods (not yet open).  The resolution states that the Village President and Board of Trustees may consider increasing the available Class V licenses to a maximum of eight, provided that an additional license is issued to a licensed premise located outside of the Village's historic downtown business district.  The number of Class V liquor licenses will not be increased above eight.  As with all liquor licenses, the Class V liquor license must be renewed by January 1st of each year. For questions, please contact Village Hall at 847-634-9440
Long Grove Sustainability
Long Grove residents and visitors enjoy abundant open-spaces, wildlife, and diverse ecosystems due in part to the Board of Trustees working together to place land conservation as a top priority. Conservancy areas are established to protect lands that may have limitations for building construction (wetlands and flood hazard areas), are groundwater recharge areas, and also function as a mechanism to protect open space and contribute to the character of the community. There are two types of Conservancy Districts identified in the Village Zoning regulations; Upland and Lowland Conservancy Districts. The zoning ordinance identifies specific uses that can occur in these districts

The Village will be adding a Sustainability tab to the new Village website (coming soon) that will include conservancy information that aims to inspire, educate and support the management and preservation of these unique Long Grove environments. Any questions relating to conservancy can be directed to Village Planner James Hogue via email at jhogue@longgroveil.gov.
Help Reduce Underage Drinking
Stand Strong Coalition and the Lake County Sheriff's Office have joined forces to reduce underage drinking. The coalition is sponsoring the 123Tip app which allows community members to anonymously report suspected underage drinking. Once tips are received, they are sent to the Sheriff's Office who will review them and conduct any subsequent investigations. Parents are reminded that providing alcohol to individuals under the age of 21 is illegal. Adults who do this can be held criminally and civilly liable. Anonymous tips can be sent via text message to: 847-411. Visit this link for more information.
Garden Club Helps
Save the Monarchs
The Long Grove-Kildeer Garden Club recently donated $250 to help save Monarch butterflies, which are close to being put on the endangered species list. The donation was made to Lake Zurich Middle School to help fund a butterfly garden, which provides food and shelter for butterflies throughout their life cycle.

The Long Grove-Kildeer Garden Club is a casual, friendly group of men and women interested in gardening. Members range from novice to master gardeners. The club meets the second Monday of the month at the Reed-Turner Woodland Nature Center at 3849 Old McHenry Road in Long Grove, unless a field trip is scheduled. To learn more, contact Penny Fulkerson at pennysgarden@att.net.
Shop Small at Long Grove
Vintage Holidays
Historic downtown Long Grove invites shoppers to take a break from online or big box buying this year and rediscover the magic of the holiday season. The annual Vintage Holidays campaign is what the classic holiday experience is all about; quaint shops, old-world charms, and family memories.

Beginning Thursday, November 14th with a special Holiday Open House kickoff that begins at 5:00 p.m.  Closing times will vary depending on location.  Vintage Holidays continues each Saturday and Sunday thereafter until December 22nd (including Black Friday on November 29th). This year's campaign features a Christmas tree parade, strolling costumed carolers and musicians, appearances by Santa and Mrs. Claus, and a new horse-drawn sleigh ride through downtown Long Grove - in addition to some of the best "shop small" options in the suburbs. To show gratitude for their patronage, shoppers who make purchases totaling $150 or more (pre-tax) anytime beginning Friday, November 29th through Sunday, December 22nd can stop into the Long Grove Visitor's Center (Mondays through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Sundays from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.) where they will receive a special holiday gift, while supplies last. Parking is complimentary and available throughout the downtown in all public lots. Click here for more information.
