5."When I was in high school I wanted so badly to work 'in the music business' even though I had no musical background. Through my school, I got the opportunity to intern at a local record label, which then helped me secure a space in the Music Industry Studies program that was starting at UC Denver!" --

4. "I attended George Washington High School. When college apps were due and FAFSA was due, I thought I was in. I was wrong. My parents didn't want to help me with taking out a loan. I thought my college dreams were over. I reached out to my counselor and she referred me to Mr. Chavez (Ruben Chavez). He helped me and gave me the resources I needed. I started college as planned. Now I work for DPS and it's been over 10 years since I've been with the district." --

3. "My government teacher in 11th grade helped me realize that I had a voice and was very inspirational to all of her students. She was honest, kind, funny and passionate. I'm still in contact with her today, and she is definitely one of the main reasons that I became a teacher!" --
Erin Murphy, Barnum
2. "I loved sports and homecoming! When I went to my first high school football game, I didn't know anything about the sport, but after learning it, I became the football manager at Thomas Jefferson High School; and I even majored in Sports Management in college." --
Shauntay Larson, Willow Elementary
1. "The East High School program 'Stay In School' (SIS) was for senior students who obtained a certain number of credits. The program included a business typing class and the teacher, Ms. Rudel, was amazing! She was caring, encouraging and funny! The program also paired students with actual paying jobs. I went to class in the morning and after lunch went to work part time as a receptionist at the Environmental Protection Agency located at 1860 Lincoln St.! 360-full circle!" --
