Hunterdon Freeholders
Call For Small Businesses To Be Allowed To Offer Curbside Pickup
|
|
Hunterdon County Freeholder Board Director Shaun C. Van Doren and Deputy Director Susan J. Soloway have sent a joint letter, on the behalf of the Freeholder Board, to Governor Phil Murphy calling for small businesses to be able to offer curbside pickup effective immediately.
In the letter, the Freeholders state, ‘Currently, numerous restaurants in Hunterdon County and across the State of New Jersey are offering curbside food pickup with a great deal of success. Restaurant owners have adapted their operations for the safe pick up of food and residents have responded appropriately by maintaining social distancing and wearing masks.’
“While New Jersey continues to battle against COVID-19, many small businesses have had to shutter their doors for nearly 8 weeks with no clear end date in site,” Van Doren stated. “Allowing small businesses to offer curbside pickup represents a safe and reasonable step forward in the reopening of New Jersey’s economy.”

County Health Department Helps
Fight COVID-19
In Care Centers
|
|
Hunterdon County has supplied long term care facilities, and the independent living facility in the county, with over 72,000 units of personal protective equipment (PPE) and 70 COVID-19 test kits, as part of the County Health Department’s efforts to assist the facilities in preventing the spread of COVID-19, Freeholder Board Deputy Director Sue Soloway reported at the May 5th Board meeting, held by teleconference.
Soloway, the Freeholder Board’s liaison for the Health Department, said “We all know that containing the spread of an infectious disease in a closed environment like a long term care facility is extremely difficult. Our hearts break for the loved ones lost in those facilities, isolated from their families. And we offer our support, prayers, and thanks to the dedicated staffs at those facilities who are trying desperately to save people, while facing serious risks themselves.”
