Family COVID Update
9.18.2020
Dear Residents & Families,

To each and every one of you – a personal thank you for your continued support as we try to protect our staff and your loved ones in these tough times.

COVID-19 TESTING
As of today, we have had one positive test result of COVID-19 in our Bainbridge Senior Living communities. Last week, in collaboration with the Washington Department of Health, we conducted more than 120 tests of residents and staff at Wyatt House and Madison House. One asymptomatic resident at Madison House tested positive.

Madison House completed re-testing staff and residents today, as recommended by the Department of Health, and samples were hand delivered to the Seattle lab this afternoon. We expect results from our retest within a few days.  In the meantime, all visitation at Madison House has been suspended (including window and patio visits as well as any in-house services such as physical therapy and doctor’s visits); residents are under self-quarantine. Communal dining at Madison House remains paused -- all meals are being delivered to rooms individually.  If all of the test results from our second round of testing are negative, Madison House residents will be able to emerge from their two-week quarantine period next Wednesday.

COMMUNITY UPDATE
Madrona House and Wyatt House have no positive test results and continue to be vigilant. Until the above situation is behind us, no staff will be travelling from one community to another to minimize potential cross-contamination risk. We will send out weekly updates and will send additional updates as warranted by this situation.

Today US officials dropped a controversial piece of coronavirus guidance and said anyone who has been in close contact with an infected person should get tested. The CDC once again says anyone who has been within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes should get a test. In a statement, the agency called the changes a “clarification” that was needed “due to the significance of asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic transmission.”

Thank you for the many emails of support this week!
With Gratitude,
Morgan Rohrbach
President and CEO
