THE SUNDAY NEXT BEFORE ADVENT
Stir-up Sunday!
Sunday 22 November
When I was young, this Sunday before Advent was known as "Stir-Up Sunday" from the Collect of the day in the Book of Common Prayer that begins with "Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people"
This was also traditionally a day spent making Christmas cakes that needed much stirring! My mother taught us that we should always stir the batter from east to west to remind us of the long travels of the Magi following the star to Bethlehem.

THANK YOU
MICHAEL GARNER!
On Wednesday The Reverend Michael Garner joined us for our Wednesday Coffee hour via zoom and shared great information and answered many questions about Church and The Pandemic.
To answer one of our questions Michael shared this lovely Pooh Bear, Piglet & the Pandemic cartoon :-) Many Thanks Michael+
In case you can't see it, the conversation reads...
"But how will we know if our pandemic guidelines work?" asked Piglet
"The world will think we overreacted" said Pooh.
"So even when we're right, everyone thinks we're wrong?"
"Welcome to Public Health," said Pooh.
And Piglet understood.
