Congratulations Knights of the Week!
Each week Bishop Kelly faculty and staff nominate students, and students nominate faculty and staff, who have demonstrated the BK Way attributes of Faith, Safe and Caring Place, Academic Excellence, Activities, Honor, Generosity, Community, and Partnership.

Congratulations to this week's Knights of the Week!
Reid Bainbridge,
Community

Reid is quiet and unassuming but is always friendly and kind to those around him. He is unfailingly polite in his interactions and is a pleasure to know.
Lindsey McBride,
Activities

Lindsey is a valuable member of the BK JV Swim Team, just raced in BK's very first Mountain Biking event, and is leading the charge to design the Freshman class banner. She's thoughtful, kind, and all-in for Bishop Kelly and her classmates.
Andrew Martin,
Faith

Drew is a kind, respectful young man who treats others with dignity and respect. He lives his faith, without putting on a show. He shares his faith with others in a quiet manner.

Kyler Lizama,
Academic Excellence

Kyler brings his best effort and attitude into each class. His eagerness to learn is contagious. Kyler often takes time to help others while maintaining his own academic excellence. Based off of Kyler''s work ethic, ability to think outside of the box and solve complex problems quickly, I would say he has a bright future ahead.
Mrs. Melissa McManus, Generosity, Academic Excellence, Safe and Caring Place, Community

(Mrs. McManus is a long term sub for Mrs. McCormick who is on maternity leave.)

  • She is my favorite teacher at BK and deserves to win before she leaves.
  • Mrs. McManus cares for each student and wants everyone to succeed. She encourages us to do our best!
  • She is a very kind, funny, and generous teacher. She makes school fun and I'm always looking forward to having her class, and I'm so sad that she is leaving in 1-2 weeks.
  • She is very nice, and I always love coming to her class.
  • Mrs. McManus pushes us to always do our best. However, she always asks us how we are doing, how our day is going and most importantly that we are kind to one another.
  • She is super nice, we all love her and she is very cool.
  • She makes learning easier and more fun.
  • She is literally the best person I've ever met.
  • Mrs. McManus is the most fun teacher I've ever had and she makes the class so interesting and I'm excited to come to class every day.
  • I am nominating her because she is the best teacher anyone could have she is always so caring, and will always work with our class no matter how we act or what's going on.
  • Mrs. McManus is always putting hard work towards our class we are going to be sad when she leaves.
  • I want to nominate her because she is one of the most caring and funny teachers I've ever had. Her tolerance and patience for her students is amazing and I have to give her a lot of respect for that. She always makes sure we are doing well academically.
  • I am nominating her because she always makes sure every student understands what she is teaching. She goes out of her way to know you personally and always has a prayer video before class. She is caring and makes me feel at home in her class but also creating a great teaching environment.
  • She works amazing with her students and provides a safe and caring environment.
  • She always tries to make the class fun and put in new activities to keep us entertained.
  • Best teacher; 10/10 I wish she would stay the whole year. She has helped me get caught up in her class even though I didn't have any excuses as to why I was behind,
  • She frequently creates a relaxed, but focused work environment.
The next BKPA Meeting is Monday, November 11th

AP Exam Order - time sensitive!
Any student planning to take any AP Exams this May must complete the following two step process to order your exams before October 25.
  • Step one - log into your AP Student Page and mark which exams you plan to take (do this for every exam you plan to take).
  • Step two - Complete THIS GOOGLE FORM with your parent present, giving permission for your account to be billed $94 for each exam.

The test ordering process is completely different this year, so please follow these instructions carefully! Any exam ordered after October 25 will be charged an additional $40 by College Board. If you have questions, please see Mrs. Crum
PSAT on October 30th
On Wednesday, October 30th, all Sophomores and Juniors will be taking the PSAT here at Bishop Kelly. Testing will start at 8:00 a.m. Everyone taking the test should be at school by 7:45.

No backpacks, cell phones, or smart watches will be allowed in the testing rooms. These items should be left in cars or lockers. Water bottles and light snacks can be left right outside the testing room. Students will not be allowed access to their lockers during testing or breaks.

Students need to bring two #2 pencils (no mechanical pencils) and an approved calculator. A list of approved calculators can be found at: (see attachment)

Students are encouraged to get a good night's sleep and to have a good breakfast that morning!
Apply Idaho Direct College Admissions
This week seniors and their parents should have received letters from the State Department of Education indicating which Idaho colleges and/or universities your senior has been pre-accepted to based on grades and SAT/ACT scores. Students will still need to apply to those schools through the Apply Idaho Application , or the school’s individual application. All Idaho schools have waived their application fee for Idaho high school students. Students using the Apply Idaho application will need to request their EDUID from their counselor. Students should also be ready with your social security number (for financial aid purposes), and use a non BK email address.
Senior College Blitz
On Wednesday, October 30 , seniors will have a great opportunity to work on their college applications. The fall is filled with activities and things to do, so while this is technically a day off of school for them, we strongly encourage Seniors to come work on college applications that morning from 9:00 -11:00 AM in the JKAF Commons in the Father Wilson Science and Tech Wing!

Counselors will have your EdUID, which has been assigned by the state and is needed to complete the Apply Idaho application. We can also help with Common App and other general college application questions. Senior English teachers will be available to help with essay proofreading. This is a great opportunity for seniors to get a head start (or complete) their college application process, so we hope to have a big crowd show up for the morning.
Faith and Spirit
Mass Honoring Grandparents
It was WONDERFUL to see so many grandparents and parents at Mass this morning. Thank you for joining us, and if you were unable to attend please know we said a prayer for you! Photos from the reception will be posted soon, and we'll send you a link to them in next week's BK Alive.

Campus Ministry created a fun video that we showed before Mass this morning. You can watch it by CLICKING HERE.
Confirmation Classes at BK
Confirmation classes at BK will be offered for St. Mary's parishioners, or students who are unaffiliated with a parish. Father Worster will hold 5 Confirmation prep classes during the lunch hour at Bishop Kelly High School beginning in January. More information will come in December regarding registration.
Adoration at Bishop Kelly
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament began this week, and will continue to take place every Tuesday that school is in session. It is our hope to offer up this time of prayer for our students, faculty and staff and their families and to provide students with a weekly opportunity to encounter Christ in the Blessed Sacrament as well.

In order to do this, we need 21 adorers willing to commit to one hour of prayer EACH WEEK during the hours between 8am-3pm each Tuesday. We are hoping to have at least 3 committed adorers per hour to ensure that there is always someone present with our Lord.

If you would like to sign up for one of the 21 spots, please fill out THIS FORM. If you have any questions, please contact Lorissa Horn at LHorn@BK.org.
RETREAT HELP, Parents Needed:
We have several retreats taking place this year for our students and are looking for a group of parents that would be able to help with meals and/or hospitality on these retreats. If your are interested in helping with one of the retreats, please reach out to Lorissa Horn (Director of Campus Ministry) to get involved. LHorn@BK.org
Please get your reservations and/or donations in ASAP, and thank you very much to all those who have responded. We have wonderful items, and it will be a beautiful "knight" in support of a great cause--Bishop Kelly! The online auction (items that will not be at the event) will open on October 21 at  bishopkellyauction.org Shortly after that, you'll be able to preview the wonderful items that will be in the live auction on November on that site as well.

We still have openings for regular tables and reservations. We also have 39 Golden Tickets left for those who are still interested. The winners of the early-RSVP drawing for a free Golden Ticket are Christie and Mark Running! Their ticket will join the others for a chance to win $5,000 in tuition anywhere or one of the available live auction items. The drawing will be held on November 2.

Finally, we are still looking for parent volunteers to help during the gala (dinner provided) to help with guiding the student volunteers in clean up right after the gala.. Couples can work together, single volunteers welcome as well. Also, we always need help for set up on Friday during the day and/or Saturday morning, or final cleanup on Sunday morning. Contact Jeannie Kranz at  jkranz@bk.org  or Rita Franklin at  rfranklin@bk.org  208-323-4789. Thank you!
