INCUMBENT WORKER TRAINING GRANTS FOR FALL 2021 & SPRING 2022 NOW OPEN!

The year 2020 is sure to leave a lasting mark on the shape and feel of work. No matter the degree to which COVID-19 affected an industry or organization’s ability to operate, the pandemic challenged many organizations to create or discover and implement new business tools and solutions. These ranged from flexible work-from-home models to telemedicine and zooming classrooms, and organizations have begun to realize just how valuable the changes are that skills-based talent models and digital transformations can deliver.

Likewise, the first half of 2021 has also seen many firsts, from the major power grid outage in Texas to the recent cyberattacks on the Colonial Pipeline and food industry, impacting the supply chain shortages even more.

While there are many organizations that successfully adapted to the rapid integration of digital technology, there are many which are still struggling to keep up with the fast-paced innovation in the workplace. According to the World Economic Forum, by 2022 no less than 54% of all employees will require significant reskilling and upskilling. This, combined with widening skills gaps, is why actively investing in employee training and development is essential for the growth of organizations and the workforce that propels it.

The Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) grants available from Forward Careers may be just what you need to help train/retrain your existing workforce in new processes or technologies, help to increase productivity, and boost your company's competitiveness and bottom line.

Organizations interested in this grant opportunity may apply for the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 funding cycle to offer training programs that will be delivered to their workforce between the following periods:

  • Fall 2021: Training programs may range from 1 day to 16 weeks and be held between August 16, 2021 and December 31, 2021. Trainings that start in the Fall 2021 period may extend past December 31, 2021, but must not exceed 16 weeks.
  • Spring 2022: Training programs may range from 1 day to 16 weeks and be held between January 1, 2022 and June 17, 2022.

Applications for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 trainings are due by 12:00 PM on Friday, July 30, 2021.
