Dear
Chevrei
(Friends),
Despite the coronavirus, social distancing environment we are all enduring right now, there are a few silver linings. While my family and I were additionally saddened at not being able to gather with friends and family for a proper shiva after my mother’s passing, we were able to connect for a Zoom funeral and shiva. We missed being physically together, but the virtual connections we are now so used to actually enabled many more friends and family members to join us, share thoughts and feelings, and offer us support. While we can’t just get together with those who might live near us, we may actually feel closer to those who live far away.
This Saturday evening we have a chance to make the world a bit smaller and connect with those near and far. Several weeks ago, our wonderful pianist, Miho Sasaki, moved back to Japan to be with her family. We miss her presence and her beautiful music at our services and programs. But this Saturday evening we have a wonderful opportunity. Join us from Japan and New Rochelle as we make havdalah and present an evening of music with Miho.

"My name is
Annabelle Rosenbluth
, and I will celebrate becoming a Bat Mitzvah on
May 9, 2020
. I will be chanting from
Parashat Emor
in the Book of Leviticus. I belong to Temple Israel with my parents, Julie & David Rosenbluth and my sister, Ellie. I am in the 7th grade at Albert Leonard Middle School. Outside of school, I enjoy playing soccer, singing and acting and hanging out with friends. For my Mitzvah Project, I helped organize a hot chocolate stand fundraiser for the Red Dog Parking Foundation which helps offset the cost of hospital parking fees for parents with a sick child. This project is important to me because parents shouldn’t have to worry about extra costs and should be able to spend their time with their child. I look forward to connecting with you at my Bat Mitzvah service when I am called to the Torah."
