From our President & CEO
Dear Friends,
BCM thrived through the pandemic, seizing every opportunity to refine, focus, and streamline our programs and service delivery. Last year, BCM kept 1,400 households from becoming homeless. That is more than 4,200 mothers, fathers, children – our neighbors – from flooding our already overcrowded community shelters or worse, unsheltered on our streets. BCM’s financial education program Budget for Life™ boasted a record-breaking year, with 40 households retiring $328,221 in debt and saving $93,190, coupled with BCM’s match. BCM’s supportive housing program, Foundation 3 – our largest investment per family at $40,000/year - remained full at 15 households who receive specialized weekly case management around their employment and education. Now, thanks to a generous donor, every child in Foundation 3 has a scholarship for quality-rated education and childcare, which not only advances the child’s well-being, but also allows the parents to work toward better employment and advanced education.
These programmatic achievements, while accelerated by the pandemic, were all in keeping with BCM’s strategic plan adopted in May 2020. In addition to our program strategy, BCM also committed to refreshing our brand, which we are proud to finally unveil to you, our community of friends and stakeholders, for the first time in this edition of The Way. See below for the new brand and story behind it.
Thank you all for supporting BCM’s mission through it all. We remain faithful in our calling and united in our mission.
With appreciation,
Keeva Kase
