CTSI-CN Community Engagement Pilot Program
The intent of this RFA is to fund projects that directly address translational science involving the community. This program is designed to fund research projects involving partnerships between researchers and community organizations. The program will provide funds in the form of a planning grant whereby a research-community partnership is able to prepare for larger funded grants.
Deadline: November 15, 2019 (LOI)
Amount and Project Period: $50,000 over 1 year
Eligibility : PIs must have a PhD, MD or equivalent doctoral-level degree and must be faculty members at either Children's National or GW. Co-Investigators must be faculty at either Children's National or GW. Prior awardees may serve as Co-Investigators, but not Co-PIs. Applications from Associate or full Professors are allowed if they propose a substantively new direction for the PI's research. Current CTSI-CN KL2 and NIH K awardees are not eligible for this program.
Reviewers: Committee of academic and community members will review all proposals to evaluate the strength of the partnership, funding requested and potential for translation and impact when making awards.
CTSI-CN Discovery Pilot Program
The PTC deliberately targets a broad range of disciplines and levels of inquiry ranging from basic, translational and clinical, to population-based research that covers the human lifespan with a special emphasis on disorders of childhood, including those that extend into adulthood, and on disorders that have their antecedents in childhood. Examples include cardiovascular disease, obesity, sickle cell disease, asthma and others. Multidisciplinary and highly collaborative projects are especially encouraged.

CTSI-CN Translation-Acceleration Pilot Program
The TAP Program is focused on barriers that involve methodological issues, institutional structures and early clinical feasibility. This program is designed to challenge investigators to identify issues that hinder CTR using internal workshops and surveys. The TAP Program would not typically support translational research itself, but would support efforts to identify solutions to these barriers. The immediate goal is to accelerate child health CTR and the development of clinical trials. Multidisciplinary and highly collaborative projects are especially encouraged.
