And, welcome to the second Sunday after the Epiphany...

The texts for the day may be accessed here:

A lot of calling going on this week... from the book of Samuel we read of his call to be a prophet, and one who will anoint not one, but two kings, as Israel heads down a path they will live to regret. But, the text does define the role of the prophet as one who is called to tell unpleasant truths... Paul sounds rather prudish as he takes us down a metaphorical road that I just don't have time for, and in one of the more amusing call stories from the Gospel, Jesus and Nathaniel kibbitz about fig trees...

Our readers for Sunday are Dave Shupe (Samuel) and Deb Watson (Corinthians), and our prayer leader is Patti At Lee. The next lecture in our adult formation series - addressing Paul's theology of slavery and his Christology - begins following the service, in the neighborhood of 7:30.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Annual Parish Meeting and Vestry Nominations:

Hold the date! The Annual Parish Meeting will be on the morning of Sunday, February 7th. It will integrate worship and Parish Reports, elections and other business, as has become our custom. You can expect information about the Housing Principal Mission progress, our Strategic Objectives performance, the Rector Search Process for 2021, our financial affairs and our candidates for Vestry and Delegates, as well as much more.  Barbara Brown is chairing the Vestry Nominations Committee; please contact her with your recommendations for Vestry candidates, including yourself if so inclined.

GET READY! DRUM ROLL, PLEASE!

The Connections Commission is thrilled to announce that our new and dynamic website is LIVE! Check it out on www.allsaints1692.org. This has been a labor of love and brings us close to completing our most important Strategic Objective for connecting with our parish family and with our friends and neighbors in the Calvert community.

If you have any thoughts, questions or suggestions, please send us an email at allsaints1692connections@gmail.com. Also, if you have high resolution pictures that would be a good fit on the website, please send them to us. They will be a welcome addition!
The latest Adult Formation offering is the lecture series Understanding the New Testament by Dr. David Brakke, based on his book. Dr. Brakke is the Joe R. Engle Chair in the History of Christianity and a Professor of History at The Ohio State University. Each lecture is about thirty minutes in length and will be followed by discussion of the material presented... at least as our starting point.
We convene on Wednesday mornings at 9 AM with a repeat on Sunday morning at 11:30. Here are the links:

Joint Epiphany Book Study:

We've had so much fun worshipping together that we thought we might try a little reading together.

Members of All Saints, Sunderland, St. Paul's, Prince Frederick, and Christ Church, West River, are invited to come together on Wednesday evenings in Epiphany - beginning January 13 - for a study of our Presiding Bishop's book, Crazy Christians.

Everything you need to know about time, how to order the book, and most importantly... the Zoom link that will lead you to the conversation, can be found by following this link:  https://conta.cc/3hThcVG

News flash: During Lent we will gather once again as our own Dr. Sherrill Munn takes us into the book of Revelations. Stay tuned...

Hope you can join us.
Share-A-Skill Extravaganza -

All Saints Skills Extravaganza continues in 2021 with two very special events in January. Have you ever considered writing and publishing a book? On Saturday, January 16th at 10 am, Barbara Brown will present tips for 'PUBLISHING A BOOK".

After deciding to write a book you will need to decide how it will be published, promoted and distributed. The choices for publication can be traditional method or self publishing. We will make some comparisons, but the session will focus on my choice, which was to self publish.

Parish buildings are not open now. Only individuals specifically authorized for an essential service may be in them (e.g., Heartfelt food packing). Those authorized individuals must wear masks, must practice social distancing and must sanitize touch areas as they enter and as they leave. This is not a matter of personal choice and applies to everyone including volunteers, business suppliers, and contract personnel. If you note a deviation, you may politely remind the individual. If you are not comfortable doing that or doing so doesn’t correct the problem, please contact a church officer. A sign in sheet Is at each entrance. Please fill it out with your name, date and time in/out of the parish hall. Thank you.
Reminder From the News Team. Info and flyers to be published in the December monthly newsletter needed to be received via email by Tuesday, January 26. Please send information to allsaints1692@allsaints1692.org AND allsaints1692connections @gmail.com.
