Every tree is known by its own fruit... -Luke 6.43
Is there much to a person's name? Why did someone receive the name that they were given? And then also, why do we sometimes seem have greater honor with particular names? I would venture to say that there is a lot to a person's name and here's why.

If we take a moment to reflect on this, a person's name is something that holds great importance as parents are typically careful and picky about the name they give their child, so much so that the name is typically not one that has been tarnished or has a negative association by others in history (ex: Judas, Adolf, etc.).

Today, September 12th, we celebrate and honor a woman with a beautiful name: Mary (Miryam/Maria/Marie). Just this past Tuesday we celebrated our Mother Mary's birthday (September 8th), and today we celebrate her name! This blessed woman who continues to bless us as we seek her intercessions whenever we call upon her name, "O Maria!"

As we honor our blessed Mother, may we also keep in mind the importance of a name and give it honor, and not curse. We are our own person, called to imitate the excellence and virtues of those we may have been named after/for. For just in the same way we are called Christians, Disciples of Christ, may we reflect Jesus by the way we live our life.

Mary, our Blessed Mother, pray for us!

Panther News
Besides COVID-19 causing some changes to take place in our normal routine in life, the school year started with cooler weather than normal, especially this last week. A small blessing in disguise as I recall the heat we had with the final touches being made in the school before we reopened, especially while wearing masks. However, because of the early chill, remember to dress properly for the mornings and for recess!
Read the latest School Newsletter and don't forget to check out our school's Facebook page to see some exciting pictures from this past week.

Holy Land Collection
Catholics throughout the world have traditionally held a collection on Good Friday to support the Holy Land. However, Pope Francis had asked all of the faithful to postpone this collection until this weekend of Sept. 13 due to COVID-19. Please prayerfully consider giving to this collection, as it helps maintain these holy sites where Jesus truly walked, and which also supports our brothers and sisters who still live there.
Contributions for the Holy Land can be made to Presentation of Mary, with "Holy Land Collection" written on the memo line.
