6th Annual Military Golf Outing

Earlier this month, Tuesday's Children hosted our 6th annual Military Golf Outing to benefit our Military Initiative. Tuesday's Children's Military Initiative guides Families of the Fallen beyond their grief, into next steps towards a lifetime of healing. The positive impact that Tuesday's Children has in promoting long-term healing is only made possible by your support. Your efforts will make a lasting difference for the children and families we serve.

A special thank you to our honoree, Stephen McGann, Senior Property Manager - Brookfield Properties, who had a tremendous impact on the success of this event.

2019 was certainly filled with some memorable moments, and we were pleased to facilitate opportunities for our families to step outside of their grief and create positive memories with loved ones. Mentoring Spotlight: Jaden and Tom

Jaden, a Gold Star child, is a rising freshman currently on scholarship at one of Connecticut's top private schools. He's an avid basketball player and proud member of the Gentleman's Club, a place to develop money management skills and build character, at his local recreational center. Jaden misses being out on the court but, even more so, he misses having an adult role model to connect with.

In comes Tom... A former soccer and baseball coach currently working toward his MFA in Creative Writing, Tom, like Jaden, is no stranger to loss. He founded the charity, Justin's Smile, after losing one of his two sons to brain cancer and is active in a parents' grief support group.

Not only can Tom identify with grief, but also with the mission of Tuesday's Children. His brother-in-law was out of his office when the Twin Towers were hit on 9/11/01. He knows many other families were not this lucky, and was looking for a way to give back and make a difference.

Since being matched in July, the pair has discovered their mutual love of cooking, reading and math. Both extremely intelligent individuals, they love to chat about their academic interests. This past September, Jaden and Tom participated in our Rise Up and Remember: Virtual 5K.
We are also celebrating a match anniversary this month!

We're thrilled to highlight Jerimiah and Joe who celebrated their two-year mentoring match anniversary on October 10th. They first bonded over a game of chess and continue to share their love of basketball, movies and a good burger.
We're always looking for in-person Youth Mentors, online E-Mentors and Career Mentors. To get involved, please contact mentoring@tuesdayschildren.org.
