Welcome to our newsletter. Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.
Headline
Windows have been installed, the envelope has been insulated, and interior finishes are being installed at Headline in Harpswell. The views from inside the house are stunning. We are looking forward to seeing the custom detailing come to fruition as we worked very closely with the owner to simplify the interior aesthetic. Construction by Thorner Building Corp.
On the Drawing Board
We have maneuvered around ordinance issues at our new Ogunquit project. Because the existing house is non-conforming on two sides of the lot we were able to design a new house using existing setbacks but maintaining its non-conforming design with the setbacks. Sometimes codes create challenging hurdles.
Rose Stone Bridge
Prior to construction of the Rose Stone office building addition/renovation in Falmouth, the existing bridge crossing a stream needed to be re-built. After a structural analysis of the existing bridge it was deemed unsafe for emergency vehicles. Construction by CPM Constructors.
US vs Panama
We are going to the World Cup! After missing out 4 years ago, David and friends cheered on the USA to victory over Panama in Orlando, Florida, 5-1, almost guaranteeing a spot to play in Qatar. USA did lose to Coast Rica later that week, but still officially qualified.
Views from the Jobsite
We promise, this house will not remain blue! However, the shape of this small compound at the Kennebec Terrace in Bath is very appealing. The first blower door test came in at just over 1.0 ACH 50 for both structures, but will certainly be under 1.0 the next time. Construction by Chartier Building and Remodeling.
Centre Street Arts Gallery
Daniele Lambrechts devoted herself to painting 20 years ago, exploring working with pencil, ink, watercolors, acrylics, and her recent focus with oils. Much of her work relates to German Expressionism and Fauvism. More of her work can be found at Centre Street Arts Gallery, 11 Centre Street in Bath.
