The next two weeks our Knights will be away on a well deserved winter break. All Orange County Public Schools are closed from Monday, December 23, 2019 through Friday, January 3, 2020. The teachers will return on Monday, January 6, 2020 (teacher workday/student holiday). However, classes will not resume for students until Tuesday, January 7, 2020.
If you are traveling out on the roadways over the winter break, please drive carefully and always remember to buckle up. We want everyone to enjoy a wonderful, but safe holiday season.
I would like to offer my wishes for happiness, good health, and joy to each member of the Lake Nona Middle School community.

P.I.E. is a way for the community to buy in and make an investment in the future of our students and includes businesses, churches and civic organizations that have banded together to support LNMS. Morning Math tutoring with Mr. Hall
It is necessary to understand the general skills and concepts of math that students will use in their everyday lives. It can be a daunting task if a student does not have the right tools or teacher in learning math. At LNMS, Mr. Hall is there to help tutor students before school when they need assistance with a math skill or want to stay ahead.

Once again, congratulations to our Royal student, Jacob Cantrell, who bowled two Saturdays ago. We are so proud of Jacob earning a 2nd Place. A big thank you as well to Coach Schenker for her dedication to our students and to the Special Olympics.

Fitness & Weightlifting Club
The Fitness & Weightlifting Club exemplified both strength and teamwork on Monday. Members were taught how to successfully and safely flip tires through the principals of proper body mechanics. Students then completed a one lap tire flip race around our on campus track.

It's not how you start, it's how you finish! The 16 seeded team in the county (out of 18), caused some major upsets on their journey to a historic and unforgettable season.
After knocking off the number one team in the county last week and then beating a challenging Gotha team in the quarter finals, our Lady Knights kept their eyes on the prize.
Our ladies next step was facing the number 4 ranked team, Innovation. We were seeking rival redemption after a loss to them early in the regular season. On December 16th, the stands were packed with our fans and anyone entering our opponents gym would have thought they were in The Kingdom. Though this game went into three sets, our Lady Knights controlled most of the game. We won the first set fairly easy, the second set was close, and closed the game in the final set to advance us into the County Championship game!
We hosted the County Championships on Wednesday, December 18th taking on Renaissance Charter Hunter's Creek. Although our ladies did not win on Wednesday, they had a one of the most victorious seasons in the history of LNMS Athletics. This was the second time since 2013 that our girls volleyball team has made it to the Championship Game. Never once did they ask for an easy road to get there or complain about their seeding. Instead they used it as motivation and embraced every game, making each victory sweeter and sweeter. None of this could have been possible without the tremendous leadership of their amazing coach, Luis Vazquez. We could not be more proud of and happy for our girls and Coach Vazquez. What an honorable tail of triumph over adversity.
We want to give a big shout out and thank you to ALL OF THE FANS THAT SUPPORTED OUR LADY KNIGHTS! The support felt at Innovation Middle School and at home for the County Championship game was a heartwarming feeling for everyone involved.
Thank you to all of the volunteers that helped host a successful Volleyball County Championship.

APOLLO 8 CHRISTMAS EVE BROADCAST
Apollo 8, the first manned mission to the Moon, entered lunar orbit on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1968. That evening, the astronauts; Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot Jim Lovell, and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders did a live television broadcast from lunar orbit, in which they showed pictures of the Earth and Moon seen from Apollo 8. Frank Borman added this to their message that evening:
"And from the crew of Apollo 8, we close with good night, good luck, a Merry Christmas, and God bless all of you - all of you on the good Earth."
