Student fees removed at K-State Olathe; degrees become more affordable
K-State is simplifying and reducing its tuition and fees structure, as recently approved by the Kansas Board of Regents. For K-State Olathe, this means the elimination of the $127 per credit hour campus fee and the $127 summer/intersession fees. On average, this now saves students more than $3,800 on a 30 credit hour master's degree and more than $11,000 on a doctorate. Undergraduates completing their bachelor's degree also save thousands of dollars compared to previous rates.
Enrollment opens in full-stack Web development career transition program
Starting July 12, K-State Olathe campus is offering an onramp for those looking to transition to a full-stack Web development career. The Full-Stack Development Bootcamp is a 400-hour, cohort-based, noncredit job training program that provides accelerated training in Web design, Web development and software engineering. 

Digital bootcamp series designed to fill region's job vacancies
K-State Olathe is using its professional development programming to help Greater Kansas City and beyond fill job vacancies in highly skilled cyber fields. In November 2020, the campus launched the Digital Skills Bootcamps as a fast-track for people who want to enter a job in a cyber field, such as cybersecurity, digital marketing or Web development.

K-State Olathe, KU Edwards offer resources to reduce education costs

Middle school summer camp explores food science and careers
Starting July 12, K-State Olathe is offering a virtual summer camp for middle schoolers interested in the science of cooking. Participants will learn the secrets of making the perfect pizza, the yummiest desserts and more.

K-State President Myers announces retirement
Following a lifetime of public service, Kansas State University President Richard B. Myers plans to retire at the end of this calendar year. Myers has served as the university’s 14th president since 2016.

Around Campus
Members of the Kansas State College Advising Corps recently met at K-State Olathe to celebrate the 2020-2021 academic year. The group hires recent college graduates to serve as full-time college advisers in select high schools in Wyandotte and Johnson counties. Advisers help first-generation, low-income and underrepresented high school students in these schools apply for college and secure scholarships. Since 2016, KSCAC members have met one-on-one with 12,989 high school seniors – 33,152 of whom submitted college applications. Members also have helped 9,880 seniors complete their FAFSA and receive $273.8 million in competitive scholarships and financial aid.
