September 2020
Welcome!
We are so glad you are here!

Whether you are a returning member, new to homeschooling or simply new to us
HENB welcomes you to a year of home education and to our provincial homeschooling organization! Composed of volunteers, we are here to serve and support!
 We look forward to 2020/2021!

We pray that you are settling in. Be encouraged; it often takes time to find your groove. And you may need to switch it up! Perhaps not just once. But hang in there! Find what works for your family. Remember that the journey is as important as the destination. Many veteran home schooling parents have looked back and wished they had stressed less and enjoyed more.

Most importantly, find your people. Your biggest asset, aside from the Lord, will be those around you walking a similar path. Check out local support groups to get connected to your "lifeline".

We have been helping homeschoolers all along, now we need YOU to help us! HENB can only continue to advocate for homeschool rights in NB if we have a membership backing us.

Help us to continue standing up for you by buying/renewing your membership for this coming school year. Your support will ensure that we can remain ready to act when home educators need a clear unified voice! You may not have had trouble or feel the need for HENB right now, but what happens to one family in one situation can affect us all. Your membership will ensure we can exist and help others when their need arises. This benefits us all!

Homeschooling with HSLDA
Don't stay home without them!

"HSLDA's mission is to enable, to empower,
and to protect Canadian homeschooling families. As times change, our member families can be assured that HSLDA will be there to enable new families to begin to homeschool, to empower existing families to homeschool to the best of their ability, and to protect families across the country from whatever challenges may come their way."

Being Thankful
For so many reasons!

As we move our chairs back from the table that held our Thanksgiving feast,
we have a chance to start fresh, having taken time to reflect on all of God's goodness - His provision for the Pilgrims of long ago and His provision for us even today. His rescue of the Israelite nation, and His rescue from death to all who believe. The Lord intended Thanksgiving to be more than a holiday but indeed a way of life.

"In everything give thanks for this is the will of God
in Christ Jesus concerning you."

1Thessalonians 5:8

And we know that what the Lord calls us to, He also enables us.
And we also know that what God asks from us is for our good!
Giving thanks is good for us!

The following articles provide just a few of the reasons why -

10 Good Things About Gratitude

COVID(a)
And so it continues!

But here are some encouraging words from Steve Demme of Math-U-See fame.

Covid(b)
Bringing the media to our doors!

Never have we seen such an interest in home education or a surge in the numbers of families stepping out in to this great adventure! Some of our members have been very busy speaking with the media!

You are unique!
And so is your homeschool!

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:2, NKJV

Comparison is a silent killer. We cannot be a support or safe place for one another if we allow competition to enter in. God purposely put each family together. Differently. And beautifully. Rejoice in who you are, not who you aren't!

Neither does the world around us dictate what our homeschools should look like and how they should function. We are free to do what is best for our children and our families. Homeschooling is not "school" at home. (Unless you want it to be!)

Advice from a favourite!

Sally continues to encourage us many years and many books later with Awaking Wonder
She also reminds us in her blog that the "road less travelled" is not always easy, but definitely worth it! She spurs us on to not forget why we are ultimately on this journey. And she privides a great read on how to walk it. The purpose and the process by a favourite veteran homeschool mom. Thank you Sally!
