Beginner Line Dancing with Howard Silverstein - Join the fun!
This class for beginners introduces the student to a variety of line dances using a wide array of music. Dances are broken down into step-by-step instruction and are reviewed briefly at the beginning of every class. This is an excellent class for working the brain, balance and your heart. American Tapestry: Contemporary Literature about Our Ethnic Diversity with Gail Lipsitz
"In diversity, there is beauty and there is strength" (Maya Angelou). In this course, we will read and discuss short stories and poems that offer insight into the lives of people from many different backgrounds and cultures in this country. What challenges do they face, how do they integrate multiple identities and what unique contributions are they making? Writers will include people with Chinese, Native American, African American, Mexican, Indian, Israeli, Palestinian and Russian heritages, among others. Jonathan has been on-air professionally since 1986 and has enjoyed sharing music with the WBJC audience for almost 35 years. There are many pieces he has enjoyed playing on-air that have never found their way into a course. This course will include Karl Goldmark's Rustic Wedding Symphony, Orff's Carmina Burana and Rodrigo's Concierto D'Aranjuez. Join Jewish Volunteer Connection in honoring the legacy and vision of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Volunteers can engage virtually in provocative learning experiences and a variety of service projects from home, as well as meaningful and physically distanced volunteer projects in the community.
Volunteer opportunities that meet vital community needs are available for all ages, abilities, schedules, and comfort level. Participants will have three different ways in which to engage over the course of the two days of service, January 17 & 18, 2021.
