Exelon Foundation STEM Leadership Academy Applications are OPEN UNTIL 4/11/22!
We are excited to announce that applications for the 5th annual summer Exelon Foundation STEM Leadership Academy are now open! 🙌

The 2022 Exelon STEM Leadership Academy is a free, week-long, residential* program for 10th and 11th grade girls interested in STEM to learn from women working in STEM and other leaders; 👩‍🔬 explore sustainability, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and climate change; 🌎 and connect with like-minded peers. 💡 The Academy concludes with an energy challenge and a chance to win great prizes! Each participant will also receive an iPad to use for Academy activities and to take home at the end of the week. 

Past Academy attendees, please share with your friends and teachers! Although you’re not eligible to attend as students, we enjoy continuing to see you at STEM Days.

Applications are Due April 11, 2022, apply now!

*The 2022 Academy is being planned as a fully in-person experience. If public health recommendations dictate, the Academy may be held virtually. Applicants will be informed of any change to the program prior to accepting their position.

Exelon STEM Academy Virtual Visit with Fermilab
What are we made of? How did the universe begin? What secrets do the smallest, most elemental particles of matter hold, and how can they help us understand the intricacies of space and time?
Since 1967, Fermilab has worked to answer these and other fundamental questions and enhance our understanding of everything we see around us.

Join Exelon STEM Academy on March 17th at 4:30pm CT/5:30pm ET to meet scientists and/or engineers from Fermilab, one of the Department of Energy's laboratories, who will describe what a DOE lab is and the projects that they and other others participate in at Fermilab. Participants will be able to interact with these ladies during the question and answer segment of the event.

Exelon STEM Academy Earth Day Hands-On Event
What does environmental advocacy look like for you? What kind of advocacy is needed specifically for oceans, besides cleaning up the pollution? What other environmental factors impact ocean life?

Exelon STEM Academy participants will explore sound waves and how they impact ocean life on April 2, 2022 from 9:00 CT/10 ET - 11 CT/12 ET. You will receive all the materials to take part in the hands-on modeling and experimenting. You will also have time to write an Environmental Activist statement for yourself which could be added to your cover letter or Linkedin site.

The deadline for registering is March 21, so get those registrations in early!

Advice For The Next Generation Of Women In STEM by Moira Forbes
For the past four years Forbes and Audi of America sponsored the Audi Drive Progress Grant with Forbes "Idea Incubator". The idea of this challenge is to bring together young talent to solve challenges through STEM.

Show her the Data: Women in Data Science Worldwide Conference
SHOW HER THE DATA: Women in Data Science at DOE’s Lawrence Livermore National Lab is gathering March 7 to watch the national Women in Data Science (WiDS) Worldwide conference organized by Stanford University Livestream and enjoy programming including Lab-focused technical talks, mentoring breakout sessions, and a career panel. WiDS Livermore is an independent event hosted by LLNL Ambassadors, which features outstanding women doing outstanding work in the field of data science. All genders are invited to attend all WiDS Worldwide conference events.
International Women's Day and Smart Sister Finance
To celebrate International Women's Day, Smart Sister Finance will be hosting two free money and power Q&A sessions on March 8th.

Smart Sister Finance will be providing some practical, positive advice about how to get started on your financial journey and opening the discussion to the community to ask questions and celebrate your money wins. This year’s International Women’s Day theme is Break the Bias, so we invite you to share stories of overcoming bias in your career, compensation and wealth-building journey to benefit your sisters.

The morning session is from 8:00am to 10:00am MST.
The evening session is from 5:30pm to 7:30pm

STEM Gems Summit: Women Empowering Girls
The 2022 STEM Gems Summit will take place virtually on Saturday, March 19, 2022. This annual event brings together girls, parents, educators, and mentors and exposes them to a wide range of STEM careers underrepresented by women. Attendees meet inspiring women in STEM, learn about their unique career journeys, and understand what it takes to pursue STEM careers.

Scholarships!!!
If you're a current high school or college student, it's time to take advantage of scholarships to pay for college! We've compiled a list of scholarships to share with our students. These include scholarships specifically for STEM students, scholarships from Exelon operating companies and partners, and other external scholarships. ⬇️ 
American Nuclear Society Scholarship
The American Nuclear Society supports more than 50 college students each year through its Scholarship Program, awarding more than $140,000 annually. Applications for the 2022–2023 academic year are now available, and all ANS student members are encouraged to apply. Recipients will be awarded between $1,000 and $5,000, based on merit and financial need.

Check out Before You Apply for guidance throughout the application process. Completing the General Scholarship Application qualifies students for consideration for more than 24 ANS scholarships.

Students applying for the Incoming Freshman Scholarship or participating in a two-year associate degree program must submit their applications by April 1.

Trading & Shipping - Sophomore Experience Program 2022
Do you have a strong interest in financial markets and trading? Are you interested in a career in energy? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, the Sophomore Experience program may be the perfect blend of your interests and an opportunity to learn about careers within Trading & Shipping at bp. This program is designed exclusively for university students expected to graduate between December 2023 - June 2024 and gives a deep dive into the world of commodity trading in the energy industry. Some of the highlights of Sophomore Experience include:
•    Exploration of bp’s energy marketing, origination, analytics and trading culture
•    Gaining experience through trading simulations, case studies, and presentations
•    Growing your network within bp
•    Engagements with bp executives and leadership development opportunities
•    Learning about the bp Summer Internship and Graduate Development Programs
•    After successful completion Sophomore Experience participants will be eligible to submit early applications to the internship program. If qualified, you will be invited to the formal interview process.

The virtual Sophomore Experience Program will start on Monday, June 6th through Thursday June 16th, 2022. The sessions will run 11:00AM – 1:00PM CST, Monday through Thursday.
