OED recognized the most impactful commercial real estate deals of 2019 on August 27th in its first ever virtual ceremony. The 4th annual Frederick Real Estate Dealmakers (FRED) Awards honored the most successful commercial real estate transactions and projects of 2019 - and the people who made them happen.

In a first, we had a father and son both win awards, with Jim Fitzgerald winning the Lifetime Achievement Award and Seamus Fitzgerald winning Dealmaker of the Year.  Chris Kline Jr. picked up an award for Emerging Dealmaker of the Year.  In another first, the Frederick County Division of Planning and Permitting and the Division of Utilities and Solid Waste Management were awarded the Most Valuable Partner Award for Fast Track Permitting. County Executive Gardner recognized the employees for expediting projects through the development process while adhering to all established standards.

The Modern Masterpiece Award was given to The Bottling Plant for the revitalization of the Coco-Cola plant, and the Most Creative Deal was given to the now open Warehouse Cinemas.  The big award of the night, Deal of the Year, was awarded to The Kroger Co. High-Tech Customer Fulfillment Center.  This project will create 500 jobs while revitalizing a vacant distribution center while bringing robotics based eCommerce technology to the facility.

Below you can read more about the finalists, winners and key players.  Being a finalist is a big accomplishment with all the outstanding projects we've worked on. These are the people who work tenaciously each day to make the deals that bring new businesses, additional opportunities and make Frederick County the best place in the world to do business.

Sincerely,
Business News

4-H FFA Sale
While the fair might be cancelled this year, Frederick County 4-H and FFA members have been raising their livestock for many months. Consider filling your freezer with fresh local meats and support local youth.  The sale begins on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd and goes until Thursday, Sept. 24th.at 6:00PM. Animals will all be sold by the head this year, not per pound like years past. The sale will include beef, swine, sheep, goat, rabbit and turkey projects. When the sale goes live you can search by species or by last name. You will be supporting a local 4-H'er who has worked relentlessly this year. They use these funds towards feed, vet bills and to purchase an animal for next year.
