TOWNSHIP NEWS

RESIDENT INPUT SOUGHT TO SHAPE THE FUTURE OF OUR TOWNSHIP

Brighton Township is embarking on a public engagement process to gather community input for a new Comprehensive Plan to guide future policy decisions and development. The Township is encouraging residents to shape the future of Brighton Township by participating in this survey:

LOCAL EVENTS

DECEMBER 1, DECEMBER 6 - 8 and 13 - 15 The 30th Annual Christmas Extravaganza will be held at Brady's Run Park weekdays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays noon to 9 p.m. This event features a variety of beautifully decorated trees, train display, gift shop, pony rides, light show, chainsaw carving and so much more! Adults $7, seniors $6 and children 6 - 12 $4.

DECEMBER 7 A memorial for Louis G. Moslener, Jr. will be held at the Beaver Cemetery and Mausoleum at 12:55 p.m. Louis Moslener was a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp. He was killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and is believed to be the first U.S. soldier killed in action in WWII. He was a resident of Monaca, PA at the time. Enter the cemetery from Buffalo Street and make the first right to locate the memorial service.

DECEMBER 11 The Veterans Breakfast Club will meet at Seven Oaks Country Club (132 Lisbon Road) between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The cost of a full breakfast is $12. The event is free to attend. RSVP at least two days in advance by calling 412-623-9029.

DECEMBER 13 "In Honor of Our Veterans" assembly will be held at the Dutch Ridge Elementary School from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The assembly is followed by a short exhibit of Civic projects and a small luncheon with 6th grade students. All are welcome.

BROWN BAG BOOK CLUB meets on the third Friday of the month from noon - 1:00 p.m. Open to Everyone.

QUILTER'S GROUP meets the fourth Wednesday of the month from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Open to Everyone.

KNIT & CROCHET CLUB meets every Thursday from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. making items to sell to support library programs.

DECEMBER 7, 14, 15, 21 The Beaver Valley Choral Society presents In Heaven the Bells are Ringing! Concert schedule is: December 7 at 2 p.m. at Saint Blaise Roman Catholic Church, 772 Ohio Ave. in Midland; December 14 at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 521 7th Ave. in New Brighton; December 15 at 4 p.m. at Saint Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 632 Virginia Ave. in Rochester and December 21 at 4 p.m. at New Brighton United Methodist Church, 1033 6th Ave. in New Brighton.

DECEMBER 12 - 15 Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker takes place at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center. The magic of Lincoln Park's longest running holiday tradition is better than ever with this year's The Nutcracker. New choreography and exciting scenic elements make this Tchaikovsky classic the perfect addition to your holiday season. Show times are Thursday and Friday at 7:30 p.m; Saturday 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday 2 p.m.
