We are proud to honor our veterans today with a slide show of your submissions alongside
America's White Table.
Puster Families,

We are so proud to honor our veterans today! Our students have read the book America's White Table by Margot Raven. We have since displayed a symbolic table in our atrium as a way for our staff and students to honor our servicemen and women.

We invite all Puster families and community service members to join us this evening for a patriotic performance by our 2nd grade students. This will take place in the Puster cafeteria immediately following a 5:30 PTO meeting.

Puster Proud,
Holly

Why Attendance Matters
WHY ATTENDANCE MATTERS

How important is it for kids to be in school?
School attendance is a baseline factor in determining school success.
A missed school day is a missed opportunity for students to learn.
Regular attendance fosters a classroom connection between teachers and students.
Attending school also provides time for social interactions with peers.

Did you know that?
Attendance is the most significant driver in the funding Lovejoy ISD receives from the state each year?
A 3% reduction in the yearly average daily attendance (ADA) can cause the district to lose $800,000 in funding.
An increase of 1% in the yearly ADA can fund 3 teachers’ salaries.
Although it may seem insignificant that the district loses $50 a day when a student is absent, consider the impact when 250 students are absent across the district and the district loses $12,500. Multiply that by 15 days and it is a loss of $187,500. The impact is significant.
Attendance taken at 10 AM determines the ADA funding that Lovejoy ISD receives for that date. If the student is on campus at that time, LISD receives approximately $50.00 per student. If a student is absent, ADA is lost.

At Puster, we know EVERY staff member goes above and beyond, though we may not always hear about it. Who are our unsung heros? Has a Puster teacher or staff member gone above and beyond for your child/family? We want to hear about it! Parents, community members, staff members and students are welcome to share by clicking the link above. We will keep contributors anonymous in our shout outs.
Volunteers and Visitors to Puster will be required to complete a COVID pre-screener the day of visit. Please scan the QR Code at the front of the building to access this form. We appreciate your diligence in keeping our leopards healthy!

At this time, we are not allowing lunch visits or volunteers. You are welcome to drop lunch off for your child at any time.

SAVE THE DATE - Veterans Day Program November 11th 5:30 PM
Puster 2nd graders will perform songs to honor our community's veterans Thursday, November 11th following the PTO's 5:30 PM general meeting. We invite you to join us for this 20 minute performance as we celebrate those who have served or are currently serving in the Navy, Marines, Army, Coast Guard, and Air Force.

Puster families are encouraged to help us honor the veterans in your life by uploading their name/s and photos into a Google Slides presentation by Monday, November 8 7AM. Each veteran will have their own slide. The slide show will be shown on our portable smartboard in the atrium.

To show support for our veterans Puster staff and students may wear red, white, and blue on November 11th. All 2nd graders will wear a solid red, white, or blue top with jeans or dark pants.

If you have any questions please contact [email protected].
PTO News
Lovejoy Family!! The 8th annual Lovejoy Letter Campaign for teachers and staff members has begun! Many of you are familiar with this beloved tradition, but for those of you who are not, it is the time of year when we write appreciation letters for each of our teachers and staff members across the district.

The letters do not have to be elaborate or lengthy. The goal is just for people to write a note of thanks to show appreciation to their teachers, the staff and administration in our district. It is the opportunity for us to take the time to let each person who makes a difference for us throughout the school day know how much we value them.

Please clearly label the envelope with the staff/teacher’s name and LLC (Lovejoy Letter Campaign) and return the letter to the box located at specified location of each campus no later than Friday November 12th. Please feel free to share this message as we spread the word about the campaign. We do not want to add any extra burden to our kids and parents, but we do want to share how much we appreciate our teachers and staff - especially this year!

Can I bring birthday treats to school for my child?

Yes, you can purchase birthday treats for your child through Student Nutrition. Please note that we are only allowing birthday treats from the LISD Student Nutrition department. Please click here to order your child's birthday treats today! Please email your child's teacher to inform them that you ordered treats so that we do not have 2 students celebrating birthdays on the same day. At this time, we are requesting no visitors during birthday celebrations.
