Join Our Children and Youth as
They Lead Our Service this Sunday!
Please join us for our annual Children and Youth Service this Sunday! Of course this year it's quite different than in past years, but our young people have still been able to prepare a thoughtful worship service for all of us, with greetings, readings, music, prayers, sermons, and a special dismissal. A great way to enjoy Mother's Day and see a lot of familiar faces that you haven't seen in a while! Our Primary Choir will be singing an anthem as part of the service.
Attention Families with Graduates!

Congratulations to all those graduating from high schools, colleges, and training programs! We would like to recognize your exciting accomplishment and transition in our annual Graduates bulletin. Please email Charlotte the following by Thursday, June 2:
  • A picture (that will be cut down to a small square headshot)
  • Where you are graduating from.
  • Your plans for the fall/post-graduation.
Calling All Grand Receipts!
Keep Shopping Local to Support our Youth Ministry!

During the pandemic, many of us have chosen the Grand as our primary shopping destination. We are still collecting Grand receipts to support our youth ministry.

Please drop your receipts in the cooler outside of the bridge door at 470 Maple on one of your many walks around the village or as a special errand!
Summer Rummage Sale has been cancelled
due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We have made the difficult decision to cancel the Summer Rummage Sale on June 6th.  We are working on plans to either reschedule it to a later time and in a way that protects public health and/or consider alternative ways in which to raise money to support our long-standing benevolence recipients. At this point, our bigger Fall Sale is still scheduled for October 8th, and we will keep you informed if there are any changes. We are grateful to our many volunteers who, year after year, ensure that our beloved rummage ministry thrives and succeeds, and we couldn't do this without you.

Thank you!

Share Your Reflections with Your Parish Family via Video
We would love to hear from you and your family!

The idea is that the videos we are now sending out to the parish will continue into the future--and  you all will provide the content. This is a way for us to be the church, to stay connected to each other, and to let us know how you're doing in the midst of this current hiatus. Choose any subject --your thoughts, what you miss about being in church together, a poem, or just a 'shout out' from your family. Be creative. Parents, your kids are likely well versed in this and can no doubt provide excellent leadership!!  The important thing is that everyone does one and that it's no more than two minutes long. Here is information below about how to shoot the videos at home and send them to him.

Suggestions for Recording Video: Click HERE

Sending video file: There are a number of options to send the file: Upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive and send the link to [email protected]. You can also use a file transfer provider such as https://wetransfer.com/ and send to the same email (it's free to send files up to 2GB, but you will see ads).

God didn't create the world in a day, so give yourself a break and record as many 'takes' as you like. Only you will know the final tally!

Thank you for sharing!

Friends in Faith
Mondays at 10:00AM

The Friends in Faith are meeting at our usual time on Mondays from 10:00AM to 11:00AM via Zoom. We follow a format of praying for people on the parish prayer list out loud together, then we share in ten minutes of silent prayer or meditation, and then one of us leads the group in a discussion of something they have brought to share with the group, usually of a spiritual nature.

For the Zoom meeting information, or to get on our email list, contact Elizabeth.

The Christ Church Centering Prayer group is continuing to meet through Zoom while  we are all sheltering in place. We meet on Tuesdays from 2:00-3:00PM. We are finding that our meditation practice is more helpful than ever during this unsettling time. Please consider joining us for twenty minutes of "resting in God"  followed by discussion about Centering Prayer and fellowship. For a Zoom invitation, please email Elizabeth Clemmitt.

All 3rd-4th graders are invited to gather for our monthly Kids Connection on Sunday, May 17, 4:00-4:45PM. Our theme will be the  Easter season and spring, focusing on  hope and good things happening after going through something hard. For the Zoom meeting information, or to get on our email list, contact Melissa.

4th Graders:  An invitation to Club 56
Wednesday, May 27th - 6:00 pm

Congratulations on almost completing 4th grade!! Since you will soon be in 5th grade, Club 56 would like to invite you to be part of our posse with a warm welcome on Wednesday, May 27 from 6-6:50pm. We will show you the ropes, are excited to get to know you better, and hope that you decide to become members of our Club!  For Zoom meeting details or to RSVP, contact  Melissa.

Club 56 is a pre-Confirmation program for 5th and 6th graders. We meet weekly to build friendships, pray, and play games. All activities are related to the week's theme and Bible story. We hear stories in the order they occur in the Bible so that we get to know the characters and how the story relates to the overall message of scripture. We talk about what life was like when the stories were written and took place. Each story is paired with a theme based on typical challenges faced by 5th and 6th graders.

Opportunities to Serve
How you can help your local food pantry during coronavirus pandemic.

The New Trier Township Food Pantry is serving more families and individuals in our community than normal given the current economic climate, and without churches and schools collecting items to contribute to the pantry's stock of groceries, they are in great need of more donations.

Their list of most urgently needed items at the moment is: Canned Fruit, Cereal, Pasta Sauce, Peanut Butter, Canned Veggies,  Cooking Oil, Condiments, Laundry Detergent (smaller sizes)

In lieu of our regular pantry collections on the first Sunday of each month, we invite you to support the Pantry in one of the following ways:
1) Send a check made out to "New Trier Township Angel Fund" to the Pantry at 739 Elm Street, Winnetka, IL 60093.

2) Order/shop from the list below of "most needed items," and either have delivered to or drop off on the porch of one of our committee members:
You can place an order through a grocery delivery service to come directly to a committee member or do curb-side pickup for your items and leave them on a committee member's porch.  Please let us know if you will be sending a delivery to us!  The Pantry is only accepting donations through pre-arranged drop-offs, and it is easier/safer for their staff if we collect our donations once every week or two and schedule one large drop-off.

Many of us are looking for ways to help, and feeding those in our own community who are in need is a wonderful way for us to shine the light of Christ for those for whom these times are particularly challenging. Thank you for your support of this vital ministry!
A Just Harvest - Needs Your Help

Due to COVID-19, A Just Harvest is no longer having volunteers serve meals in their dining room. Instead AJH staff are cooking meals
from the ingredients and recipes that we provide and serving "To Go" at lunch time.

Please continue to sign up on Sign Up Genius to "cook" (provide ingredients) and to provide salad, fruit and BOTTLED WATER, JUICE BOXES/"JUICE" DRINKS INSTEAD OF MILK.

We will still need to deliver the ingredients to AJH at least 24 hours in advance so that they can prepare the meals.  We will need at least one person to volunteer to transport food contributions to AJH. That person will need to call AJH kitchen at 773-262-1766 before delivery and deliver between 9AM and 3PM.

Lifting Up Our Prayers
We keep an ongoing parish prayer list in the church office. Please email or call the church office to enter your prayer requests. Unless you indicate otherwise, names will be kept for one month's time. Friends in Faith, as well as our lay chaplains and our clergy, will be lifting up these names in prayer. Private prayer needs may be shared with the clergy at any time. Each prayer is an opening to God's healing grace at work in our lives.
