Budget Charters, Trying to Weather COVID-19
"It's not a pretty picture, honey. I'm operating about 1%," said Natalie Shimshock, vice president of PBA member Budget Charters.
Budget Charters has laid off three office employees, and only two of the 28 drivers who were employed at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic have been called back to work. The company's 38 motor coaches have been sitting idle, save for a handful of recent short trips, since March 14. Read more...

PBA to Offer Virtual Distracted Driver Train-the-Trainer Program
FMCSA has awarded a cooperative agreement to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Training, Research and Education for Driving Safety (TREDS) program to provide training to Commercial Drivers about the dangers of driving distracted. TREDS is interested in developing instructor teams in ten different states to prepare traffic safety professionals to deliver the Just Drive: Deliver Distraction-Free curriculum to commercial drivers.
