Prescriptive Analytics, the Final Frontier of business analytics, doesn't involve Klingons but rather actionable insight that directly inform business decisions. Many businesses assume that this requires complex computers, complex machine learning models, data scientists and at least one PhD. Alexandra argues that all useful business analytics can--and should--arrive at prescriptive insight. She will explain the analytic journey, showing how everyone , can harness simple and approachable techniques to improve how we understand data-driven decision-making.

Using her BSc in Biology from Emory University and PhD in Veterinary Science from the University of Cambridge, Alex served as director of analytics for the Colorado Hospital Association. Alex passionately believes in empowering the data scientist in each of us. She currently serves as the Director of Data Strategy at Data Prep U, a local start-up that provides education and custom training for companies of all sizes.

When she isn't wrangling data, Alex can often be found with her children at a local construction site and elsewhere, exploring how people build and grow.

This month we present BABOK section 10.26, Item Tracking

Items are used to address stakeholder concerns, such as actions, assumptions, constraints, dependencies, defects, enhancements, and issues. The concern is initially assessed to determine if it is viable, and if so, is classified as a specific item type tracked from the initial recording of the concern and its degree of impact to its agreed-upon closure.
