PRESENTED BY THE CONSERVANCY'S HAMPTON ROADS CHAPTER

Event Includes Rarely Seen Artifacts, Distinguished Speakers and More

Featuring panel discussions and a list of distinguished speakers that includes former U.S. Maritime Administration Administrator Admiral Mark Buzby (Ret.), Captain James McNamara, authors Larry Driscoll and Bill Fox, and Conservancy President Susan Gibbs, this event will be interesting and informative for people of all ages.

Along with the discussions, the Mariners' Museum will display rarely seen items from the SS United States that are part of their collection, and the Hampton Roads Chapter has arranged several unique experiences - including a ringing of the Big U's bell at Christopher Newport University's Hoinkes Plaza.

The event will also feature a chocolate table with SS United States-inspired products and chocolate-themed activities for kids; book sales and signings by Larry Driscoll and Bill Fox; wine tasting and sales courtesy of MountainRose Vineyards and merchandise sales that include original blank menu covers suitable for framing, smokestack tissue holders and original blank passenger, crew and purser forms.

This is the Conservancy's first in-person programming since the start of the pandemic and it's sure to be great fun for everyone.

Submissions are being accepted for our Maiden Voyage 70th Anniversary T-Shirt Contest. Now through Sunday, May 29, ship enthusiasts, artists and designers of all ages and ability levels can submit a design - like this one that was created by young supporter Ryan Miller in 2018 - that could be featured on special anniversary t-shirts that will be sold this year.

After you've explored our ongoing digital exhibition, "Transatlantic Trailblazers," be sure to stop by our exhibition store where you can pick up a variety of fun collectibles, including this special t-shirt.

The shirt showcases two of our exhibition’s trailblazing women, Gwen Lux and Mira Van Doren and it is a great way to share your support for the Conservancy.
