While EV sales in light duty vehicles are hitting record levels in Canada this year, much more work is required to accelerate this trend and to promote EVs in other modes of surface transportation. Although we now have a minority government in Ottawa, it is committed to climate change actions and the other political parties they are likely to seek support from on key votes are demanding a significant ramping up of environmental actions. Timing is therefore right for new and bold actions to promote EVs and Electric Mobility Canada is acting on this opportunity.

On November 25 ^th, our Board of Directors approved the attached letter to the Prime Minister and some of his key ministers listing a wide range of actions the federal government should undertake to grow the electrification of transportation across Canada. EMC will follow this up with more detailed submissions for Canada’s 2020 budget and through regular meetings with senior officials.
