Possible ACT Testing Option - October 6

DeSales has been made aware of an ACT Testing option at a cost of $46.00 on October 6th. We are trying to gather the amount of interest in order to best prepare for this opportunity. Due to spacing and safety constraints we will be offering seniors first priority for this testing session. This opportunity will be for Senior and Junior students only. If you think you would want to test on that day please complete the form below. We will follow up with more information as it becomes available.

SFD vs. Watterson T-shirt Sale

SFD vs. Watterson t-shirts are $10 each. Please bring exact change. They were sold today during lunch, and will be on sale again tomorrow during lunch periods. All money raised will go to the Alumni Legacy Scholarship fund.

Students in the White group can wear their t-shirt to school on Friday of this week (9/18).
Students in the Purple group can wear their t-shirt to school on Tuesday of next week (9/22).
Nurse's Notes

COVID-19 Update: We are pleased to report that SFD has 0 positive cases among students, teachers, and staff through the first week of school! Thank you students, families, faculty, and staff for your efforts in keeping our school safe. Our mandatory reporting will continue to be updated weekly and can be found on our school website's COVID Dashboard. Please contact Kelli Fitzpatrick, School Nurse, at 614-267-7808 ext. 435 or email at fitzpatrick@desales.co to report an illness.

Beware of the Benadryl Challenge!
This game was discovered on the TikTok app and influences students to take as many Benadryl pills necessary to hallucinate, all while recording it on a cell phone and sharing with others. Benadryl is an over-the-counter medication used for allergies and can cause serious problems, or even death, if too much is consumed. Talk to your students and children about the dangers of inappropriate use of medications. To find more information, check out: https://preventionactionalliance.org/advocate/newsletters/know-to-beware-the-benadryl-challenge/
Janitorial Position Opening

A part-time, evening hours janitorial position is currently open at St. Francis DeSales High School. Position responsibilities include office, general space and restroom cleaning.
25 hours per week, 5 hours per day, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 4pm and 11pm (you are able to determine your own schedule within that time period). Competitive hourly rate of pay. If interested please send a cover letter and resume to tetgen@cdeducation.org.
Process for School Lunch Service

Bosc + Brie is committed to making the lunch program safe and as convenient as possible for your Stallion. With that in mind they recommend creating an account through MySchoolAccount to minimize any cash contact, exchange or handling. Pre-ordering is one of the conveniences of having an account--with the option of ordering for the next day or the whole week. Deadline for pre-ordering is 11:59pm prior to the following school day. If you miss the deadline, lunch is still available for purchase. An account also allows you to deposit money into the student's account so no cash is needed. You can track the meals and your account balance, and have a reminder sent to you when your account gets low as well.

$10,000 Raffle

Every family with an athlete is required to sell a $10,000 raffle ticket ($100/raffle ticket). Our goal this year is $38,000. All proceeds go towards the Athletic Department. Athletes received their raffle tickets last week from their coach or parent rep. If you did not receive one, please contact your coach or Mr. Pat Murphy in the Advancement Office.

The raffle drawing will take place at halftime of the football game on Friday, October 30, or a virtual drawing will be held at 8pm that evening if the game is cancelled. You do not need to be present to win; all winners will be contacted if they are not at the game.

Incentive Turn-in Dates: On Friday, September 18 and Friday, October 16, we will be drawing a ticket from all the sold tickets turned in by those two dates; the team that sold the ticket gets $250 added to its account.

Money and SOLD TICKETS should be returned to Mr. Pat Murphy or dropped off in the main office. Please contact Mr. Murphy for extra tickets and for any questions regarding the raffle.

Reminder that any family who sells 4 tickets gets an Athletic Season pass good for admission to all HOME events for the pass holder plus one.*

Tickets may be turned in by 3:30pm at school on Friday, October 30 or by the end of the 1st quarter of the football game on Friday, October 30.

*Depending on the Ohio Department of Health Guidelines for fans attending games this year.

We hope all other alumni will join us virtually as we live stream Mass each morning.
Show Your Spirit During Homecoming Week

Homecoming is all about tradition (and football!) so we wanted to add some fun with a few "Football Friday Night" theme days throughout next week.

Monday's Theme: Neon (out-of-uniform)
Although this fall has been a bit different, we are glowin' with the flow. Stallions - let's shine bright to kick off Homecoming Week!

Tuesday/Wednesday: Hawaiian (in-uniform; students in the Purple group who purchased a SFD vs. Watterson t-shirt can be out-of-uniform and wear their t-shirt to school on Tuesday)
Let's luau! Accent your uniform with all things Hawaiian (exception: no bathing suits over uniform).

Thursday/Friday: Stallion Pride (in-uniform)
Kick off your day at Traditions Mass (7am in the gym). Thursday/Friday is all about Stallion Pride. See how much purple you can add to your uniform (socks, ties, scrunchies, wristbands!).

Remember to listen to the game on Pouringpurple.com on Friday, September 25 at 6pm!
Conversations on Social Justice

The New Albany Community Foundation is conducting their first Conversation on Social Justice tomorrow, September 16 at 7pm. This event will be a great opportunity to listen to a variety of intelligent speakers on thought-provoking topics.

Registration is free, and there are unlimited spots in the virtual room. You can register at this link: www.NewAlbanyFoundation.org. Please contact Mr. Darrien Scott at dscott@desales.co if you have any questions.
Home of a Stallion

Is your son or daughter an athlete? A budding thespian?  Let everyone know that your student is a proud Stallion. Orders are being taken now for Home of a Stallion signs. Order forms can be found on the Spirit Shop page of the SFD website or obtained in the Spirit Shop. The deadline for fall orders is September 22nd so don't delay.
Grandparents Day Address Request

Please take a moment today to submit your student's grandparent's mailing address. In early October, we will send each grandparent an invitation to join us for our virtual Grandparents Day Mass. We would also like to display photos of our students with their grandparents on our Grandparents Day webpage; if you have a photo to share, please email a copy to cofojohn@desales.co.

Please submit address and photo by October 1, 2020.
Spiritual Reflection
God, grant us the patience to live as Our Lady of Sorrows did, a perfect model of hope at the foot of the cross. Thank you for providing us such a profound example of love and acceptance of your will. We don’t have to bear our daily crosses alone, for you have given us your son, Jesus Christ, and his mother, Mary, to help us find our way. Please bless the Congregation of Holy Cross and all of its lay collaborators, benefactors, and friends as we celebrate our patroness today.
