On January 8, Virginia Department of Health announced that Arlington could begin to distribute the COVID vaccine to people in Group 1b. Distribution to Group 1a continues, but the announcement allows more flexibility to speed up vaccine distribution.

Group 1a: Healthcare Personnel and Residents and Staff of Long Term Care Facilities

Group 1b: Persons aged 75 and older; Police, Fire, and Hazmat; Corrections and homeless shelter workers; Childcare/K-12 Teachers/Staff; Food and Agriculture (including Veterinarians); Manufacturing; Grocery store workers; Public transit workers; Mail carriers (USPS and private); Officials needed to maintain continuity of government.

Group 1c: People aged 65 through 74 years, people aged 16 through 64 years with a high risk medical condition or disability that increases their risk of severe illness from COVID-19, and other essential workers as defined by VDH, including waste removal workers food service, institutions of higher education faculty/staff and public safety (engineers).
To help prepare for this distribution, Arlington County has created a set of pre-registration forms. We shared these forms earlier this week with members whose businesses appear to fall within the three priority categories, and now we want to share with all of you. These pre-registration forms identify the demand for the vaccine; they do not register individuals for shots.

The first two forms are meant for employers – each organization should submit the form once on behalf of all staff covered in the priority groups. All covered employees who work in Arlington will be eligible to receive vaccines in Arlington when their priority group is called, regardless of whether the individuals live in Arlington, DC, Maryland, or elsewhere in Virginia. In completing the above forms, please count all essential workers in your organization. You may estimate if you do not know the exact number.
There is also a form for individuals who are in a priority group for reasons not related to their work. Groups 1b and 1c include individuals who are 75 years or over (group 1b), or anyone 65-74 (group 1c) or 18-64 with an underlying medical condition (group 1c). Unlike the business forms, this registration form is specifically for Arlington County residents. Please feel free to share this message with any contacts you know who fit those descriptions so they can register.
The Chamber is here to support our members through the reopening process. Please visit our COVID-19 Resource Center for more reopening resources, and please reach out to us at chamber@arlingtonchamber.org if there is anything we can do to help you.
