Maryland Protective Gear Resource for Businesses

Dear WANADA Members,

Maryland has created a resource to help essential businesses purchase vital protective equipment from local providers. The state has set up the  Maryland Manufacturing Network to connect owners of essential businesses with producers of sanitizing products, personal protective equipment, and diagnostic tools like no-touch thermometers, to help keep businesses compliant and essential workers safe during this health crisis.

Essential business owners can access the MMN's search tool to find Maryland providers of these vital safety materials. Anyone can source retailers using this tool; however, the state notes that priority will be given to health care and first-responder organizations, followed by Maryland-based essential businesses.

Business owners can contact retailers directly through the state's portal, or they can submit a buying request online and the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership will assist in sourcing the requested items.

As we have long emphasized, it is vital that you are providing your essential workers with the protective equipment and sanitizing resources that they need, and that you document all efforts to rigidly comply with state and local mandates around workplace safety and social distancing. WANADA's COVID-19 Information Library is a great resource for local, state, and federal resources that cover workplace safety and compliance.

Please let me or Joe Koch ( jk@wanada.org) know if you have any questions. You can also contact the Maryland Manufacturing Extension Partnership at this page if you would like additional information regarding the state's protective equipment program.

Sincerely,
