Buck's Backyard at McCollum Hall
The Fort Myers Mural Society is unveiling the first panel of the “Bucks Backyard” mural during the November 2020 Art Walk. McCollum Hall's renovation is a Fort Myers CRA project to restore the historic building and the create a new "art hub" for events and social gathering. Artists Erik Schlake and J.P. Alamonacid are collaborating on the first of 17 panels to be painted. The panels will celebrate the rich history of the McCollum Hall and the Dunbar neighborhood. Despite different styles and approaches, the artists are demonstrating a strong sense of camaraderie on this project. A digital reproduction of the first mural panel will be on display at the November Art Walk. The event will feature live painting from both mural artists as well as other Fort Myers Mural Society members, an exhibit of Floridia SouthWestern State College (FSW)'s "Inside Out Project", and Sculpture Artist David Meos' work, "Honey Bee". Shops in the vicinity of the unveiling will be open to support this Art Walk-based event.
