LTAP Classes

"Basics of a Good Road" classes set in January-March 2020
Beginning in January 2020, LTAP will get back to basics by presenting our newly revamped “Roads Scholar #1: Basics of a Good Road” course at eight locations around the state. It will be instructed by Nick Verret Jr. who currently serves as Parish Engineer for the Parish of Natchitoches and City Engineer for the City of Natchitoches. 

All local road employees and supervisors with all levels of experience are invited to attend.

LOCAL ROAD RESEARCH
Brief Survey on Life Cycle Costing from MN LRRB

The Minnesota Local Road Research Board (LRRB) is conducting a research project to help local agencies answer the following question: "How much does it cost to maintain a mile of road?” On their behalf, Louisiana LTAP encourages our local partners to complete a 5-minute survey by December 31, 2019.

Mini-roundabout
at Nicholls State University

The mini-roundabout at the intersection of Audubon Avenue and Ardoyne Drive on the Nicholls State University campus in Thibodaux is now completed. This is believed to be the first constructed in Louisiana using federal safety funds through the Local Road Safety Program (LRSP).
Focus on Reducing Rural
Roadway Departures (FoRRRwD)

If you are looking for a way to explain and visualize rural roadway departure crash types, countermeasures and tools, try using the FoRRRwd Trading Cards developed by FHWA Office of Safety.

LPESA Calling for New Memberships and Renewals

The Louisiana Parish Engineers and Supervisors Association (LPESA) i s calling for new members to sign up and current members to renew their membership in order to avail of the training and workforce development opportunities that the association offers.

This conference will be at the Raising Cane's River Center in downtown Baton Rouge. Transportation professionals at the state, federal and local levels are encouraged to attend.
National Association of County Engineers (NACE) Conference
April 19-23, 2020
Baldwin County, Alabama

The largest gathering of local infrastructure officials and engineering professionals will take place in Alabama next year. Louisiana LTAP invites parish engineers and supervisors to consider attending.
