NOVEMBER 2019
Wyoming Soccer Coach Selected as US Youth Soccer (USYS) West Region Boys Competitive Coach of the Year
Wyoming Soccer is proud to announce that Brian Orr from Heart Mountain United Soccer Association has been chosen as US Youth Soccer's West Region 2019 Boys Competitive Coach of the Year! Please join us in cogratulating him and wishing him luck as he is now in the running for the National Title. The USYS Awards Gala will be held in Baltimore during the United Soccer Coaches Convention on January 18th.

Upon receiving the news of his award, Coach Orr stated, "I am extremely honored to be selected as the West Region boys competitive coach of the year. There are so many great coaches and to be considered among them is special. I want to thank the Heart Mountain players and families, as without their commitment none of this would be possible. I am lucky to coach a lot of great players and be supported by their parents. Thank you to those that wrote the nominations and Wyoming Soccer for supporting my nomination." He added, "Being a smaller program and coed is a sense of pride for our team. Like our jersey states, we must play with a lot of "HEART" to compete against teams that are mostly all boys and from larger programs. While we have been successful (we took 1st or 2nd in 11 of 18 tournaments, and finished 2nd in the Boys Gold bracket at the 2019 Wyoming Cup), I am most proud of how we are playing the game the "right way" and always show great sportsmanship."

This is a huge honor for Brian and for Wyoming Soccer in general. The West Region includes 14 states (basically every state directly north, south and west of Wyoming including Hawaii and Alaska). Brian was selected as Wyoming's boys competitive coach of the year at the 2019 Wyoming Soccer Awards Banquet held during the Annual General Meeting (AGM). All award recipients were then nominated for the West Region awards.

Any position you can offer to help with would be greatly appreciated! Please click the button to review the available slots and sign up.

DANNON KOHLER
November's player spotlight focuses on Dannon Kohler, a 12U girls player from Evanston. She currently plays on Evanston Express' "Steamer" team. Dannon started playing soccer when she was four and normally plays sweeper, but is also strong as a midfielder and forward.

Besides playing soccer, Dannon loves to read and dance. This year, she ran cross country with the middle school students, and had an awesome time. She also has been working really hard on her studies and is currently on her school Honor Roll.

A few of Dannon’s favorite things are her little sister, candy, friends, games, and helping her brothers take care of the chickens...ok, that last one might not be her favorite, but she still gets to help! All in all, we think she’s pretty great!!

We want to hear more about players like Dannon.  Remember, the player spotlight can highlight achievement in any area, whether it's soccer, academics, community, or attitude. Please share your kids with us!
