June 13, 2021 - Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
“To what shall we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable can we use for it? It is like a mustard seed that, when it is sown in the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on the earth. But once it is sown, it springs up and becomes the largest of plants and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the sky can dwell in its shade. ~ Mark 14

Sacred Heart Novena
St. Margaret Mary experienced the “sacred” heart of Jesus in a time of deep prayer and meditation. Jesus spoke to her of his desire to love all humanity, and he invited her to allow her heart to be joined with Jesus’. When someone asks us to pray for them, we join our hearts with theirs in prayer. We struggle to live this divine love each day as a Catholic Christian.

This year, we offer the Novena to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, with prayers, reflections, adoration, and benediction. Please join us in person at St. Margaret Mary Church for 8 evenings, beginning Thursday, June 3 at 7:00 pm. The Novena will close at the Noon Daily Mass at Christ the King Church on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, Friday, June 11.

Funeral Ministry
Looking for Volunteers
The ministry of tending to the grieving and serving at Funeral Masses is a necessary one in any faith community. Saint Kateri is no exception. We have several funerals weekly across the three churches. We are in need of volunteers to serve in the area of altar server (adult), hospitality minister and sacristan. The duties are carefully delineated and there are experienced team members willing to train. The role of altar server is to carry the cross, ring the bells, light the incense and bring it to the presider at the appropriate time. The ministry of hospitality includes greeting people, along with assisting the Funeral Director with flower placement, knowing where the bathrooms are, providing masks if necessary, and other logistical concerns as they arise. Finally, the role of sacristan is the same as weekend or daily Mass; setting up the sanctuary with all that is needed for Mass. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, please call Sr. Karen at 544-8880 x1110 or email: sr.karen.dietz@dor.org. These ministries offer the heart of Saint Kateri to those who attend a funeral in a very special way.
