Legit White Burgundy for $9.99? Yep!

Plus an old-vine Beaujolais Rouge for the same price.

A tasty bottle of white Burgundy for ten bucks, does that even exist? It does at Vin Chicago, and it is exactly what we have for you today!

We first tasted this authentic and delicious Chardonnay in the cramped cellar of Hugo Matray (pictured at right with his wife Ludivine) and were bummed to learn it was not imported to the US. We pursued and persisted, and were able to get a parcel shipped over specifically for Vin Chicago.

While it tastes like a $15 to $17 bottling from Mâcon, we're letting this Beaujolais Blanc fly today for just $9.99 - simply fantastic for an estate-grown, hand-harvested white from the Burgundy region!

2018 Domaine J. Boulon Chardonnay
Beaujolais, Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not only is this a ten-buck bottle of Burgundy, it's actually an estate-produced wine from a small family producer.
Domaine J. Boulon is a family-owned estate run by young Hugo Matray and his wife Ludivine (Boulon) Martray, the sixth generation of her family to produce wine here.
We visited with Hugo a couple years ago and were instantly charmed. This is not a fancy place. It is a simple place where real people are making real wines. The style is old-school with a focus on fruit, authenticity, and freshness.
While Chardonnay is quite prevalent in the main area of Burgundy, it is rather rare in the regions's Beaujolais zone, with less than 1% of vineyard land planted to the varietal. Today's shockingly bargain-priced bottling comes from a two-hectare parcel located not far from the Morgon appellation. Delivering a mouthwatering 90 points of flavor and structure, this dry, medium-plus bodied white offers flavors of red and yellow apple, white peach and river stones along with classic Chardonnay notes of chalk, yeast and sea salt. Boasting notable intensity and excellent balance, it is dangerously gulpable and totally delicious.
By having it imported specifically on our behalf and bypassing multiple layers of markup, we are able to present to you this wine that tastes like a $16 Mâcon-Villages for just ten bucks!
As far as we can tell, we're the only ones in the country to get our hands on this beauty. At our crazy price, and with the holiday season in full swing, Chardonnay lovers are going to snap this one up by the case!
Plus a Ten Buck "Vieilles Vignes" Red from Domaine J. Boulon!
2017 Domaine J. Boulon "Vieilles Vignes"  Gamay
Beaujolais, Burgundy, France
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While today marks the first time we've featured a white wine from Domaine J. Boulon, we've  passionately promoted the old school Beaujolais reds from this seventh generation, family run property since visiting them in 2017.

The rugged, rustic, delicious red that we present here is simply an unreal value.  Hugo crafts this wine from 40-plus-year-old Gamay vines grown in granite soils on their estate. It is way deeper, richer and more charismatic than any $10 Beaujolais deserves to be!

The grapey, fruit-driven attack is followed by a grainy, earthy palate and a finish featuring bright red berry tension and black-rock minerality. An absurd value, it's a wine to drink on its own or at the table with anything from pizza to rack of lamb. At $10, you simply can't do better. Grab a case to drink over the next three to five years.
