Family Newsletter
Lead-Love-Learn
Lyon Families,

We hope this newsletter finds each of our families well. We know this time apart has not been ideal trying to teach your child at home while also trying to conquer many other tasks throughout your day. Teachers are here for you and ready to support. Please reach out with any questions you may have.

Also please know we are developing a plan to reteach essential skills your child has missed during this extended school closure. Please don't fret! As long as you continue to expose them to the lessons being prepared, we are confident your child will be back on track in no time upon the start of the 2020-2021 school year.

Be sure to continue reading this newsletter as there are many end of the year items we need you to view. We hope to see many of our families during our supply pick up dates listed below.

Sincerely,

Casey Mitchell, principal
Leanne Gove, assistant principal

Pick-up and Drop-off of Student Supplies

On May 12th and 13th, Lyon Elementary will host three two-hour sessions for families and students to pick-up and drop-off supplies. Classroom teachers are working on preparing these supplies and closing down classrooms this week and next week. The important information you will need to know about supply pick-up and drop-off including times can be found below.

Times for Tuesday, May 12th are 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Times for Wednesday, May 13th are 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Picking up supplies is optional, but all supplies left behind will be repurposed after Friday, May 22nd.
  • Supply pick-up and drop-off will be drive-through style. We will use the same procedures for car lane that we do during the year for before and after school pick-up. Please have your car line sign on the dash of your vehicle so we can get your child's things ready for you quickly.
  • Please bring library books and drop them off. If your child participates in Reading Recovery please drop off his or her books, as well.
  • Families may pick-up medications at this time. Please notify Nurse Lisa so those will be ready. Her email is lisa.jones@republicschools.org

American Heart Association Prizes

Prizes from the Kids Heart Challenge have not shipped, but will soon. We received the following information from our friends at the American Heart Association about prizes for the Kids Heart Challenge:

While we have processed the gifts at the distribution center we use, we are currently not shipping anything at the moment. We are working on a plan, state by state, on the best time to ship the gifts. Currently all orders are on hold and bundled by state to make shipping as quick and easy as possible when we are able to get them out to you. None of this has been an ideal situation for you, your students, or our organization, so we apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but we are trying to make the best decisions we can given the unprecedented circumstances we are in.

We will let you know as soon as the prizes are in. We are always so proud of the work Schofield kids do to help those in our community. Stay tuned!
