FINDING HOPE, FINDING JOY
Great offerings this month some continuing favorites and some are brand new just for the season.

You don't need a computer or tablet to participate in most classes. Please share this information with friends who could call in. In fact, what a great way to meet up with current friends to learn something new together.

Find out how Little Libraries are creating community on January 19. Do you have grandchildren or neighbors who are transgender or identify as non-binary? Learn more about it during Understanding Gender Identity on January 27. And join your neighbors for Community Tales to share ideas, hopes and plans for 2021 on January 28.
On Fridays, join Senior Power for a conversation with Dr. Anna Chodos from UCSF Dept. of Geriatrics to stay up to date on vaccines and other COVID-19 developments. Try Yoga Nidra for Sleeplessness on Thursdays or Qigong with David Wei on Mondays and Fridays. Find cooking, healthy aging, and other classes on our full calendar.
Start Dancing for Strength with Kyra on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Line Dancing with LaNay on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, and don’t miss Musical Theater Dance for all abilities on January 7. See the calendar for even more classes!

LEARN ABOUT PROP 19 IMPACT ON PROPERTY TAXES
Join Assessor Carmen Chiu for important information about Proposition 19, with new rules that go into effect mid-February. Join her on Thurs., January 14 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Proposition 19 limits people who inherit family properties from keeping the low property tax base unless they use the home as their primary residence. It also allows homeowners who are over 55, disabled, or victims of a wildfire or natural disaster to transfer the assessed value of their primary home to a newly purchased or constructed replacement home.

FULL SPEED AHEAD - LEARNING ZOOM WITH CLC!
Community Living Campaign co-sponsored the pilot program with the Network For Elders in the Bayview, part of the city’s plan to bridge the digital divide due to a lack of internet access, devices and digital literacy access among lower-income residents and communities of color. MORE CLC UPDATES
DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION AND BELONGING AT CLC

CLC is embarking on another important step for our organization. We have create a nine-member Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Task Force, with facilitation and support from CircleUp Education. The task force will survey all CLC staff to assess areas needing help and to make recommendations. In the meantime, the Cayuga Neighbors continue their Vigil at Geneva and San Jose on Thursdays from 4:00 to 5:00 and invite you to join them.
GOOD NEIGHBORS CONTINUE TO INSPIRE US
We are still enjoying the warmth and kindness that our Good Neighbors, past and current, represent. If you haven't yet, come learn about this year's Good Neighbor Honorees and see the short videos that speak to the importance of being a good neighbor.

THANK YOU POSTAL WORKERS
CLC Community Connectors recently showed their appreciation for their local mail carriers. The slogan of "through sleet and snow" has been changed to "through appalling air quality, higher temperatures, a storm of political mail and ballots, and COVID." Throughout, our mail carriers have carried on. See how our Community Connectors have shown their appreciation.

SENIOR AND DISABILITY EMPLOYMENT
SF ReServe, a program of Community Living Campaign, helps adults age 60+ and adults with disabilities secure meaningful, paid, part-time work in the nonprofit and public sectors that offers flexibility and a modest stipend. Jobseekers can learn more about this and other employment-related resources at a First Impressions presentation on Zoom on Tuesday, January 5 from 3:45 to 4:45. SF ReServe Brings Greetings from the Children
Friends of St. Francis Childcare Center is one of SF ReServe's longest-running partners. Our ReServist, Judith Baker, works with children at the center to deliver colorful and cheerful cards and messages to isolated and lonely neighbors.

TRANSPORTATION SUPPORT
Do you need help figuring out how to get
around in San Francisco with all the changes due to the pandemic? SF Paratransit’s discounted Essential Trip Card taxi rides are available for San Francsicans 65 or older, living with a disability, or with health conditions or mobility challenges that prevent them  from using Muni.

In neighborhoods where CLC has funding, we are offering subsidies to provide neighbors with $60 of free rides per month. Please Contact Cathy DeLuca at cathy@sfcommunityliving.org or call 415-638-9183 to see if you qualify.
TOYS & BOOKS TO THE RESCUE

CLC Community Connectors Nicky Transvina and Olivia Franco mobilized friends and allies in December to provide toys and books to families of essential workers in the Mission. Read more about this heartfelt effort on our website.

A HOLIDAY TURKEY EVENT GROWS WITH THE NEED

Each year, Veronica Shepard of the SF Health Department has pushed for more turkeys and fixings to share around the holidays. With a lot of collaboration, she got her wish this year. On December 9, more than 5,600 turkeys and fixings went to good homes for those in need. Chester Williams and Deb Glen in partnership with Glide, spearheaded CLC's contributions to this effort. We got to acknowledge and thank Supervisor Norman Yee for his leadership as his term as a Supervisor comes to an end. Join the next Dignity Fund Campaign meeting on Wed., January 27 from 2:30 to 4:00, where we get to know incoming Supervisor Myrna Melgar. We will focus on preserving the Dignity Fund priorities and setting advocacy goals for the coming year.
