Workshop Series
It Takes A Village
|
Navigating supports, wait lists, and funding, as well as managing change and planning for the future can be challenging. This collaborative workshop series hopes to ease that and show families that, although It Takes a Village, that village is ready and able to guide them through these bumps.
The CSCN, Community Living London, LHSC, the Thames Valley and London District Catholic School Boards, and TVCC have joined together to host a series of conversations for families of children and youth with special needs. Come and meet other families, hear from a panel of parents and community service providers, and share questions and experiences on a variety of topics.
You can register for any or all of the workshops

How to conduct job interviews with candidates who have autism
|
This article focuses on job interviews from the perspective of supporting the interviewer to make the experience more inclusive for the interviewee. It made me think of the disclosure conversation from the August issue.
What do you think? Is this something that you could bring up before an interview?

|
What are the basic skills we need to be successful in the workplace? We hear a lot about 'soft skills', but what are they? The organization People for Education have done some research about this, and propose a set of skills they are calling the 'New Basics',
- Learning to learn
- Thinking creatively and critically
- Collaborating
- Communicating effectively
- Developing a sense of self and society
