I’m Jeff Gahris, candidate for the DuPage County Forest Preserve Commissioner in District 4. I grew up enjoying 7 acres of woods, and have been involved in environmental issues most all of my life, both as a professional environmental specialist and as a community activist. It was only a matter of time before I would find myself running for our forests.

While this is my first time running for elected office, I have been involved in all levels of government prior to retiring from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. As a volunteer leader for the Sierra Club and other environmental organizations, and with stints with the nonprofits Elevate Energy and SCARCE, I have enjoyed being in conversation with many people about clean energy and environmental preservation. As a candidate I have the pleasure of continuing these conversations, and learning more about what people value. For me, it’s about preserving and building community, and a greener DuPage!

I hope to bring more solar energy to the preserves where it makes sense, and to encourage fact-based decision-making. To learn more about my agenda, please visit my website at jeff4dupageforests.com and my Facebook page at facebook.com/JeffGahris4DuPageForests.

While living in DuPage County for nearly 30 years, I have come to appreciate the beautiful and unique natural areas we have in the county. I now have the opportunity to work to preserve our natural areas, and wish to invite you, my friends and neighbors, to join me in exploring, appreciating, and protecting the splendor around us.
