About the Book
Edited by Ron Carver, David Cortright, and Barbara Doherty, Waging Peace in Vietnam shows how the GI movement unfolded, from the numerous anti-war coffee houses springing up outside military bases, to the hundreds of GI newspapers giving an independent voice to active soldiers, to the stockade revolts and the strikes and near-mutinies on naval vessels and in the air force. For more information, see the new and detailed Wikipedia page on Waging Peace in Vietnam .
“The popular protest and resistance to the US war in Vietnam that developed...among the soldiers who refused to take part in a criminal war, played a leading role in revealing its horrors. This powerful record of their struggles and achievements is a most welcome contribution, with critical lessons for the future.”—Noam Chomsky, Author of At War with Asia
The Earth, the City, and the Hidden Narrative of Race is now an Audiobook!

Ben Mattlin

“It’s powerful prose…. By the end, you will learn a lot about [the disability rights] movement. But you will also feel as if you’ve made a new friend.” Read the full review here .
About the Book
Nadina LaSpina’s detailed and poignant memoir traces her life from early years in Sicily, where she contracts polio, to the struggles of growing up with a disability in the United States, to eventually finding community and strength through disability rights activism.

From a recent review by Sonya Huber: “Nadina LaSpina’s Such a Pretty Girl... is a riveting chronicle of a coming-to-political awareness and then a long commitment to disability justice.”
